I think you'll find as your technique and routine improves that the bases will all work a lot better. That said I started with a 34c and spent months trying different things to get better shaves. I then switched to the EJ89 and no matter how much I tried I couldn't get a good shave and my ingrowns got worse. Then I got a slant and bc I spent the months working at it and getting better at wet shaving all of the sudden I was getting the greatest shaves.
Time, practice, and finding what works well for you is the key.
