    Default Feather not sharp enough!

I have been using Feather blades since my first sample pack, and I've come to the conclusion that they are just not sharp enough for me. Maybe its my razor, I use a 1960 SS day after day, and prior to that a 1920's Tuckaway which I had to stop using due to a crack in the handle. Any suggestions?

Try a fatboy on 9. Or realistically speaking a more aggressive razor. IMO, blade abilities are vastly overstated when it comes to closeness of shave. Yea, there are sharper blades than others, but the razor makes most of the difference when you are working with the top 25% of sharp blades.

SS are mild razors for the most part, even the Red Tip is not crazy aggressive. I'd try a Red Tip or New. Then if your still not happy with your shave SE's are crazy cheap and shave very close. Or if you really have gutts you could try a Feather AC straight...that thing is scary wake up trembling in cold sweats sharp.

My sentiments exactly. Super Speeds are not especially aggressive. You might try a short tooth old type, or, as GreekGuy says, an adjustable cranked wide open...

Try a feather blade in a Merkur Slant 39c or in a Futur and dial it up to the maximum.
It's really easy to believe someone when they tell you exactly what you want to hear.

I wasn't crazy about the Feather/SS combo either. Nothing wrong with it, just not as close as the Feather/HD combo for me. The HD just works much better for me in terms of closeness of shave.

I had the same feeling once; posted the same message. Went for aggressive razors. But for me a better prep did the trick. I made my own modification of Kyle's prep, and now a Feather is sharp enough.

its the razor not the blade. I can't get a decent shave out of a Super Speed no matter what blade I put in it. try a Feather in a Merkur HD, you'll be in business. you may even find the Feather is too sharp in that razor; which isn't a bad thing as there are many other milder blades to be tried.

    Default Agreed

Try another combo before you write off either the blade or the razor. Most likely it's the razor in this instance as stated above.
