I don't use straights but own a few that are basically in storage, display. Do you apply a light coating of oil to preserve the blade? Yes, I know I don't know jack.

Yes you can use camillia oil or mineral oil. I'm sure other types of oil world work too, but those are the most commonly used for straight razors.

I can always count on the generosity of B & B members
I use mineral oil for my razors but if I was not going to use them and have them just for display I would use Renaissance Wax. Put it on and forget about it. Oils will periodically need to be removed and replaced.
