Default In praise of Timor blades

As I am still a DE newbie, I don't feel qualified to write a review on anything as yet, but I have to say that in my limited blade experience, the Timor blades are awesome.

I have used Gillette Bleu, Wilkinson Sword, Personna US. Get 3 maybe 4 decent shaves (3 pass). Tomorrow morning's shave with the current Timor will be #6. I swear it feels just as sharp as the 1st shave. I have not changed anything else in my routine either.

I did read on this forum that sometimes it's a matter of finding the right blade for whatever razor one is using as well as compatibility to one's face.

I know there are a bunch of blades I have not tried but I can't imagine a better experience than what I have now.

I feel like Kramer from the Seinfeld episode test driving the car and seeing how far he can go with the gauge on empty. I'll see how long this Timor lasts.

Timor blades are great. I got seven shaves from one Timor, which is a record for me.

I usually can only get two or three shaves from blades due to my wire like stubble.

If you like Timors try Souplex. They are as smooth as Timors but sharper.

+1. I think Timors are a quality blade but they are just not sharp enough for me. The Souplex blades however are and indeed one of the smoothest I ever used. My #2 blade for years now.

Thanks for that information. I'm a Feather user so that might be preferable to try instead.

Can anyone tell me which dealers sell Souplex???
It's one of the few blades I haven't tried yet.

About Timors, I like them, but have noticed that some appear to have staining (maybe corrosion?).

    Anybody else noticed this?

Here is where I bought my Souplex blades:

As far as Timors, none of mine have any staining fresh out of the package, but once I have used them for a shave or two they do tend to yellow, but it isn't rust.
This happens to all of the blades I use. It must be something in my water.

I don't know where in the world you are living but shaving.ie in Ireland stocks them.

Well, shaves 6 & 7 on my now seemingly immortal Timor blade are in the books. However, #7 did show signs of dulling somewhat.

    Changing blades tomorrow AM.

    I'm lovin' these Timors.

Timor is my #1 blade. Maybe a shade less sharp than Feather, but, for me, it strikes a nice balance between closeness and comfort. I like Feather a lot, but don't find it as comfortable as Timor.

Now this thread has got me curious about Souplex. How does it compare to Timor for comfort and Feather for sharpness?

A lot of YMMV I suppose.

For me the Souplex blades are, for sharpness and longevity, in between Timor (not very sharp but holds its edge very well) and Feather (starts very sharp but the edge goes down very fast on my whiskers).

For smoothness however Souplex takes the first place with ease. I think both other blades are in the smooth and forgiving camp as well (I never understood the horror stories about Feather) but none comes even close for comfort. Definitely worth a try!!

Thanks. Interesting! I agree that Timor has more staying power than Feather. For me, a Feather, by the third shave, is about as sharp as a Timor but not as smooth and comfortable. Shave #2 with a Feather is heaven, but so are shaves #2-#5 with a Timor.

Based on what you say above, though, Souplex shoots to the top of my must-try list.
