Default First shave with Fat Boy - initial impression

I received an F2 Fat Boy today and while I wanted to clean it up right away I had to try it out. I just let it soak in some scalding water and dawn then wiped it down and shaved.

The first thing I noticed was that (for me) the 1-4 setting is worthless. Seemed I needed it on 5 to get some decent cutting. I can only compare it to my EJ 89L and that baby is GOOD. The head on these TTOs are of course bigger so that was an adjustment. It was however easier to get around my nose, lips, chin than I expected. I like the heft. I probably need to work on the angle a bit because it is different but all in all it was a good, smooth nick free shave and it felt neat to shave with a 51 year old razor. I did clean it up afterward and it's not too shabby for a $25 investment.

Question for the seasoned Gents, can an adjustable shave as good as a 3 piece? Seems the razors like the EJ is so solid and precise.

Thanks for letting me gloat as I realize this should probably be in the review section.

    Nice clean Fatboy. I've got a 58 and a 59.

I agree about using the upper end of the adjustment dial. Be sure to try different blades as some work great in the adjustable TTO mechanism and some...eh...not so hot.

I predict you will find a combo of blade and settings that will make you a fan.

My FB did a decent job on 3 on the first pass but as you indicated the 5 setting is what I usually use at a minimum.
