Default Opinions on a Schneider and Chapman straight?

Today I grabbed a 5/8 Schneider and Chapman straight from ebay on an impulse buy. I couldn't really find anything about this manufacturer, including here on B&B. It is shave ready, with a spike point and half-hollow. Model # 205. It cost me like 18 bucks, so not exactly a big buy...I'm looking to build a collection of a few nice shavers, so that is all I'm hoping for with this.

Does anyone know anything about these razors? Was this a good buy or should I resell?

    Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the brand, but it looks like it will be a good little shaver. You could either clean it up a little, or send it out to a hone mister and use her as is.

Thanks for the input. It's supposed to be shave ready, so I guess I'll give her a try and see how she does. Maybe I'll try some flitz or Maas after that.

If its shave ready then go with it, i would be hesitant of polishing a shaving sharp razor - so easy to cut yourself. My fingers are covered in bandages from when i sliced them up good in a moment innantention with a dull razor

Hmm, good call. I'll just chalk the stains up to character and leave them. I already have a knack for cutting my fingers, no need to make it worse.

Well, she finally came in the mail. Right away I gave her the old HHT, which was passed on the second try. I went ahead with the shave which was not too great. There was lots of tugging and I felt that I had to push a lot more than I'm comfortable with. The razor just didn't seem as sharp as I'd like, but passed the HHT, which puzzles me.

My problem might be that the razor is more hollow and less forgiving than I'm used to. It seems to be a full hollow, while my only other straight is quarter to half hollow. It deserves another try in any case.

Hopefully you'll learn the famous HHT is garbage. The only test that counts is actually shaving with the blade in question. Why, because facial hairs are tougher than arm hairs for example.
