    Default Free shipping?

This is possibly a dumb question, but do you guys know of anywhere that offers free shipping on smaller orders?

For example, I'd like to try a small pack of razor blades, priced at $2.25 ... but $8 for shipping makes it a little impractical.

You'd think that some of this little stuff could be put in a regular ol' envelope and mailed for the price of a stamp. But what do I know?

The Superior Shave offers free shipping on their products to anywhere in the U.S.

Check out their blades at http://thesuperiorshave.com/Double_Edge_Blades.html
I'm not sure what the smallest quantity available is, but there might be something there for you.

That's a cool minimalist site, and I like his commentaries. Good call.

Not a ton of interesting higher-end blades that I haven't already tried. The Dorcos and Sharks seem interesting, but having already tried everything in the West Coast Shaving Sampler, I wonder if these would be an improvement.

The problem with finding a site that does free shipping is that they usually adjust their prices to reflect it, so you really aren't saving anything usually. I think you're better off finding a site that charges a fair pice for the product and then lowest possible rate for shipping (as opposed to flat rate shipping, or requiring priority mail or UPS).

What blade are you looking for?

Shaveabuck.com has a good number of blades and shipping for 3 packs was less than $2 if I remember correctly (CONUS).

Give them a shot. Hopefully they have the blade you're looking for.

I love doing business with this guy. He's really nice and he ships really quick.

I bought my Muhle R41 there and am looking to grab the Dovo Best Quality cut-throat off of him.

If you think about it, it's pretty impractical to offer free shipping on such a small order; the vendor would be losing money.

West Coast Shaving will do inexpensive (not free) first class shipping based on weight. I think I paid $2ish for shipping on $10 worth of individual packs of blades.

I haven't looked on their site real recently, but have bought a handful of individual brushes from WCS at different times, and their fair option of letting you choose mailing options (USPS First Class for items under 13oz.) is a big plus in my book.

Because of the physical characteristic of a pack (or 2 or 3) of razor blades, you can't just toss them into an envelope "for the price of a stamp", but you can send them quite cheaply on a "total weight" criteria, i.e. under $2.

    This.

I do like how upfront Superior Shave is about this very issue. I'll likely be ordering from them next month.

Well, yes, but whether you pay for it amortized into item costs (i.e., it's economical to place small orders) or as a separate cost (it's economical to place the largest order possible) makes a difference. So, the OP was looking for one where the additional shipping charge was $0 so he could place a smaller order than would otherwise be economical.

Oh, and ntguy has free shipping usually...he's really good for blades. PM him on B&B (he offers a slight discount that way) or find his store (wish4star, I think it's called) on Amazon. He used to mainly do eBay, but I think he's moved away from them.

Depends on your business model...offering a $2.50 pack of blades shipped free (probably eating ~$1-$1.50 shipping) is kind of a bum deal, but if you find that that then causes the customer to come back and order a hundred-pack, then it works out for you. That sort of thing is probably the same sort of expense as free samples.

I'm keeping tabs on those vendors that will do free shipping (cost of shipping is included in the price of the product).

Here's what I have so far:

Perfumania - Tabac shaving cream (picked up for $5.24 on Pres' Day Sale)
MensDirect - many products available by this vendor
RazorsDirect - many products available by this vendor
StrawberryNet - Art of Shaving in Sandlewood $14.50 shipped
TheSuperiorShave - many shaving products available by this vendor
BestShave - some blades ship free
    FragranceX - Tabac products
Amazon - $25 Super Saver on many classic shaving products

If anybody has any more companies, please share.

Some of the vendors on Amazon will ship free. I've ordered single blade packs from a couple (sorry, can't remember names) that weren't covered in the super saver deal, but still shipped them for free.
