    Default Thinking about cutting back.

So I haven't been at this too long, but I have a dozen or so razors I have found the ones that I like the best and am considering letting the others go. The only problem is every time I sit down to choose which ones I want to keep I go through the list and justify why I should keep every one of them OH have I got a problem. "I have to keep this one because...."

Has anyone else been here? How did you decide? Did you decide? Or did you just break down and keep buying more?

If you cannot decide then sit on them longer and over time you will see which ones really get use and which ones you have not touched in months. If you use em all in a regular rotation then you don't really have to get rid of any then, huh?

You cut back the hedges. You cut back the kids allowance. You never cut back on the number of razors you own.

There are alternative paths one can take. Like….. Ask the wife to take a second job so you can keep buying more razors.

Hmm... She's a full time student but I'm sure if she got a part time job that would be enough to cover my RAD! Great idea, I don't know what I'd do if I were to come down with more AD's though... I love my wife and need the car sob neither are going up for sale - other options considered.

For me it's a question of mindset. What am I doing this for and what do I want to get out of it? How much time and energy do I want to invest?

It's nice to be competent and to have nice tools for things that we do essentially every day of our lives. The process of getting good at something builds the appreciation for the craftsmanship, performance and variety of our many razors.

That being said, I'm definitely on a path to simplify. I have worked down to a half dozen razors through gifts, ebay, and recently one out on BST.

Of course, brushes are different. I have a Semogue on order and I'm looking at nicer badgers.........

I settled on the 40's style Superspeed a long time ago. I will still buy another one if I stumble across one cheap enough, never hurts to have a few spares. The last one I snagged was 75 cents... in the case.

I don't have enough razors to have that problem. In fact i just won a display model only. It is a Segal and takes a special blade.

    Hi,

You may just take the position that the money is already spent, now if you can just keep your self from acquiring more.

Would you give away most of your children because you could get by with only one?
