    Default Necessary Products for Travel

Morning gents... I'm trying to figure out what I need for travel purposes.

    I guess I would need:

    1) DE Razor Case (to hold my Merkur HD 34C) Does anyone know if this case will fit my Merkur and blades as well? http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Merk...Box_p_533.html

    2) Brush holder. I have the Colonel X2L. Will this work? http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Simp...ner_p_546.html

Creams, soaps, etc I can just pack. What other case/holders do you all recommend?

    Thanks!
    James

The Merkur case will fit your razor, plus a pack or two of blades. Bear in mind that it is a tad fragile, and prone to cracking if it has pressure put upon it.

You can also keep your razor and blades in a soap dish, Altoids tin, rolled up in a sock, etc.

I can't say for sure on the Simpson case, but I think it would be too small. Take the brush to your pharmacy and ask them to sell you a pill-bottle that will be a clloser match. Drill a few holes in the cap for ventilation, and you're all set.

Good call, thanks for the tips.

On my last trip I did not carry on but checked baggage. My razor was without a case (Mergeress) and I have a TH travel brush. I bought a small plastic kit and filled it with WH and threw in a pack of Personna Red blades. I also packed a tube of ASB.

I use a Merkur travel razor, which fits nicely into a leather (or fake leather) pouch. I wouldn't use a plastic case.

Depending on the luxury you want, a shave stick is cool for travel.

The tip on brush storage is great!

No blades aboard unless it's checked under the plane, you already know this.

A shaving stick is easier to travel with IMO but anything would do. LaToja is good as it comes in it's own containers and it already has holes on top so it can dry. Mmm, Aftershave... For the shaving brush, some use a pill container.

I was wondering about this myself. I know they'll allow one cartridge style razor, but I didn't think they'd allow any DE or especially straight style razors.

I'm in the middle of a trip right now. I packed a disassembled EJDE89L wrapped in paper toweling in an Altoid tin, an inexpensive boar brush and a box of 10 blades. Everything but the brush fit in the Altoid tin. I put the brush and the "loaded" tin in a sandwich bag and tossed it in the check-in with an Arko stick.
    Best regards, Fran

+1 on this. I also picked up a red salsa dish at Wally world for less than 2 bucks since I bowl lather right now.

Correct. Cartridge yes, DE blades, no, straights, no.

If I'm going lightweight, then I have an old mp3 player case for my DE and blades, plus a bunch of mini tubs and tube from different samples for cream, a/s etc.

If I'm packing a dopp kit, then I just throw the fullsized bottles/tubs in and take them 'as is'.
