    Here's a link. http://www.amazon.com/Van-Hagen-Luxu...7915670&sr=8-8

The windmill on the box and soap remind me of the Muhle windmill. Wonder if there is a connection?

Over 10% glycerin; contains shea, mango and cocoa butters; sounds like a good soap for winters.

I wonder if this will find its way to the usual stores that VDH inhabits.

That looks pretty sharp now they need to up their game on their soap. I know its not all that bad but they still could...a little.

    Thumbs up

I really like the VDH glycerin, so I will be ordering this next month once my monthly shaving allowance is renewed.

Looks interesting. I went ahead and pre-ordered the scented and unscented soaps. I also stumbled across a VDH "luxury" badger brush, sporting the Muhle-ish windmill. For $15 bucks, I added it as well. Now I just have to wait until the end of March

That is a good price, I've seen apothecary mugs selling for more than the whole set. I wonder how the brush is?

If it is the same brush that they send out if you write them about your boar brush shedding (too lazy to bring up the old posts), then I suggest passing on it. That thing was crazy floppy (and I use a vulfix).

I was curious about this newly listed product and the "Muhle" looking windmill so I emailed VDH and here's the reply:

    Hi Michael,

The new soap is part of an upscale line being launched. Amazon will be the first to carry the product. The new line has a badger brush, acrylic shave brush and razor stand (razor not included), a ceramic apothecary shave bowl (new soap fits perfectly!) and two new shave soaps. The shave soaps are 3.5 oz vs the current 2.5 oz and are similar in formulation BUT they have a higher percentage of the ingredients that set our product apart from the others - ie. glycerin, shea/mango/cocoa butter. Both bars have over 10% glycerin! The two bars are almost identical in formulation (same goodie package), the scented bar being opaque white and the unscented being transparent. The scented bar has a very nice fresh-citrusy-woody note. It is of cologne quality. We manufacture all of our soaps in Liberty Hill, Texas.

Hope this helps! Thanks for writing.

    Marty van der Hagen

Should prove interesting. Think I'll have to get the whole thing, i.e. mug/brush/soap, and see what they got.

That brush looks incredibly similar, nearly identical in fact, to the C&E-branded EJ Pure Badger that sells for $35 from C&E.

The packaging looks pretty similar to the boxes from Jagger as well. I am going to go out on a limb here and bet that the new VDH badger is an EJ. If so, for $15 it is a very good buy

I wonder if it's based on a cologne (like the other soaps are Grey Flannel-like)?

Citrus Woodsy? Wow that could be about 100 different colognes.

What's the most popular Citrus Woodsy cologne?

And I have one of those mugs (a white one from Burt's Bees). They are GREAT for melting in a couple pucks of VDH.. Room for the soap and enough room to build the lather right there..

There are enough similarities between the EJ and VDH brushes that you are probably right. I will definately be ordering both soap and brush soon enough.

I have to wonder if Marty van Der Hagen reads this site. I would think he would be amused by the VDH recipe thread.. someone should invite him here..
