Well I know there is some New Mexican's on the board just wondering if anyone would be up for getting together? Maybe we could all meet at Model Pharmacy in Albuquerque and have an old school drink and gawk at some shaving porn

Ahhhh! I'm going to be in Albuquerque in March with my wife, who has a seminar. Are you telling me I have a place to go while she is in class??!!

EDIT...And there is a soda fountain there??!!

You bet! It's like an old style drug store they also sell shaving supplies, and then they have a little soda fountain / shake machine and mix darn near anything you can think of...so I have heard along with breakfast and lunch. I have yet to try it out but I did take a gander at the shaving section once when I first got into wet shaving just to see if prices where fair. My friend's wife bought his whole setup there so it's not to bad.

I'm from Clovis natively, and consider Albuquerque home since I spent my college days there. My Grandmother still lives there actually. I miss Albuquerque all the time. Nothing like having the mountains right there to go play in.

That place is over there off near Monte Vista... I don't remember it, unless it's in the same little building as the wine shop and sandwich shop?

Having lunch at Model Pharmacy! Great selection of traditional products! The wife likes Tabac EDC! Thanks for the heads up. I can't wait for a return visit to the high desert of Northern New Mexico!

The city of Albuquerque has the same population as my FL county, yet we don't have a shop like this! The food is more than just traditional soda fountain lunch counter fare, too. Just a couple photos...

I live in Gallup, and I'm usually in Albuquerque twice a month or so. I've driven by Model Pharmacy (it's on Carlyle, right?) many times. I had no idea it was such a cool place.

I dropped in on Model Pharmacy yesterday.

Anyway, I REALLY wanted to buy some Feather blades, but all they had was MERKUR BLADES! I declined...

Brushes? You want a brush, they probably have what you want!

A FEW safety razors, a straight or two, mugs, even a scuttle.

But if you want soap, or shaving cream, or after shave, or cologne, well that's the place to get it!!!

And while I was there, the lady who was waiting on me noticed my Marine Corps t-shirt. She asked if I was a Marine, and when I told her "yes, ma'am", she explained she lost her 28-year-old MARINE son in Afghanistan 3 years ago. I literally cried.

I think I'm going back there Wednesday with a small Marine Corps momento.

Nice story man! Yeah it's a great store, sadly not a lot of blades to choose from when it comes to razor blades. I have some Personna Med Preps if you would like some, I can send them to you drop me a PM!
