    Default British Sterling

Picked up a bottle of British Sterling last night at my local grocery store. I have to say that the scent took me back in time to the 70's. It felt very cool and refreshing on my skin, and very little burn after my 3-pass DFS. Also, as an added and frankly unexpected benefit, my beautiful wife says that she likes the smell! Can you believe it? She actually liked the smell. Heaven, I'm in heaven....Lol!

Whilst British Sterling certainly bespeaks a certain era, it is not at all unpleasant or truly out dated. As for your lovely liking it, I have had similar reactions from my own dear wife. She loves the old school, manly man aftershaves and colognes and I suspect British Sterling would be fine by her. I find it encouraging that many men, and by extension their wives, are discovering the old classic male scents again.

Make as much fun as you want of them, there is a reason that Old Spice, Skin Bracer, English Leather, and British Sterling are still around. Not to mention things like Floid, Speick, Tabac, and others from the European side of the Atlantic. Maybe, just maybe we are going to see an end to the popularity of ocean water and shampoo as the base scents in most male toiletries. I mean, I can hope can't I? Or is it pray? Somebody tell me I am not hoping against hope...

I bought the British Sterling. It feels good and works well. I like the smell, and so does SWMBO. It's an all-season regular in my rotation and I'll buy it again when it's empty.

I'll have to pick some up. Was a favorite of my father for years.

Does anyone remember the "lemon-lime" version? It came in a frosted glass bottle and was clear instead of the familiar green.

As far as I can remember it was the best smelling citrus aftershave I have ever smelled.

I like it. It has a classic, non-cheap scent for its price point.

It was Bitter Lemon, I think. My dad wore that, too.

A lucky few of us (apparently) have found it in the Fragrance section at Wal-Mart, along with a few other good AS choices. But you have to go on safari through the bottle-jungle on the shelves....

It is the same for me. In the fragrance section of Walmart. Eleven dollars even for 100ml bottle. The English Leather a/s is located next to the British Sterling in our store as well. They evidently do not realise that aftershaves should be in the shaving section. Maybe they would sell more.

My dad used to use this all the time, so I keep the AS and cologne in my den. Maybe I'll give it a try today.

Boy, this brings back a blast from the past. BS and BS Lime were regulars for me back in the early 70's. Now I'll have to go out and find a bottle.
