i am ordering a cotie in the next couple of days, and i currently have one vintage straight razor. i have read several times on B&B to buy a cheap razor on the 'Bay and learn to hone on this first. sound advice, i agree. but can you set a bevel on a cheap blade? is the honing experience the same (in regards to building an edge) on a cheap blade as it is on a quality blade?
i am thinking about purchasing a selective (the kind that comes with a cheap strop on the 'Bay) or something like that. what do you consider to be a cheapie, a good practice razor? any thoughts or insights are most appreciated. thank you in advance!
