is it just me or does it seem that alot of people new or veteran wet shavers all seem to be buying the new edwinn jagger de89 razor any version lined ivory ebony, and almost every retailer is on back order and ever forum has people swearing by them . can anyone offer up why the ej has gotten so much recent attention?

    In my opinion;

    It's priced right.
It's got a proven track record of consistent quality.
It's a "new" item when you receive it.
    It's beautifully finished.

The first two reasons combined with the fourth seal the deal.

I have the 89L and may not use it often, but it is one of the best looking razors I own. It's also one of the best values out there. Mirror finish and hefty, solid feel.

Of all the DE's I own (7 in total) EJ89 is my favorite...best combination of closeness and comfort.

It was my first DE and it was a solid choice. Good shaves and I didn't chop up my face getting the hang of using it.

As many were, I was torn between the EJ and a Merkur like the 38C for my first DE. In the end I saw nothing but praise here for the EJ, while I saw some complaints about quality control with Merkur razors. EJ it was.

It is one of the best razors still in production.

    Just got mine today...

What a deep and beautiful finish!

I just put a blade in it, and tomorrow morning will be its maiden voyage.

Got a EJ brush and stand, too.

A new chapter in my shaving voyage to begin aboard the USS Edwin Jagger.

Sorry , I did not mean it that way , my friend. I just mean as opposed to any of other well made razors not in production anymore such as superspeeds , fatboys , slims , etc that are no loger in production anymore.
I would be very hypocritical if I were to tell you not to buy more than one. I have an ej89 and an ej89l.

The price point is affordable and the build quality is excellent.

  15. Thumbs up Ej 89l

This is my First DE Shaver, Iam new to this, but now have a Nice collection of Mint Vintage Razors, But So far so good for the EJ89L Use it with a Feather Blade, But i have to tell you, Those Feather Blades are Really Sharp, So far i have have shaved 3 time's with the EJ89L and with the same Feather Blade and still on my 3rd Shave i got me a nice BBS Shave, So now im going to see if the Feather Blade can get me a 4TH BBS, I wont Attempt a 5Th time because i like my blades sharp, so be careful when using a Feather Blade with the EJ89L it will sheer your whiskers Right Off, Ohh by the way i do a 3 pass shave Each time, Down, Sideways, Then across the Grain Whoaaaaaaaaaa BBS Each Time, So yes, EJ89L Is a Winner that's for Sure, Hope you Enjoy it

There's been a lot of buzz on this forum recently about the EJ DE89 along with a few magazine articles on DE shaving. Given that the DE market is relatively small I doubt that it would take much to sell out the smaller online retailers.

In full disclosure, I count myself as one of the DE89L lemmings. What a great razor.

Own one--well made and beautifull---just doesn't shave me worth a damn.

My 38c is light years ahead in the shave quality---for ME.

I prefer my Merkur as well. The DE89 is a good razor, but not the best one for me.

A year ago when I first started wet shaving. I read every thread everyone and their grandma recommended and used a merkur Hd Or 38 .

I went against the grain and I Purchased my 89l. I have been using it ever since. my only other razor is a Futur.
