Default New Australian Vendor, The Shave Shed

    Hey everyone,
I have some exciting news for all the Aussies, my e-commerce shop is now open for business! The Shave Shed deals in only one thing - classic shaving tools and accessories for men. Some popular brands which I sell include Merkur, Dovo, Vulfix, Derby, Sir Irisch Moos, Taylor of Old Bond Street, Feather, Astra, Frank Shaving, and many more.

Some of you may have already seen my items on ebay under the username theshaveshed. But now, http://www.theshaveshed.com.au is ready to take orders.

The site is by no means finished at the moment, and there is much more work that needs to be done still. It may not be the prettiest site going around, but it does offer cheap prices and some hard to source products in Australia.

I would love to hear your feedback on the site and be sure to let me know if you think I need to make any improvements.

    Welcome Marcus,

Though I'm pretty full up with product now, nice to know there's another Aussie ( hopefully including Tasmania ) source.

Nice to see you've got the Moos and Erasmic.... must resist...

    Good luck with the store

    Hi everyone,
I hope you all like my website. As I said, there is still a lot of work which needs to be done and I would love to hear your thoughts thus far.

I am adding new items all the time so make sure to check back regularly.

I look forward to getting to know you all.

The first thing I would do is to move the categories up to the top, and the info section to the bottom. It will allow customers to more quickly access what they are looking for, and is kind of the standard of e-commerce now.

Secondly, I like how you allow for multiple currencies. This will allow for you to gain customers from all over, and is a very good thing. You do the work for them. Does your pricing change with exchange rates, or is it set once created? As that might cause some problems.

You have a nice starting product lineup also.

All in all I would say you have a great start to a nice business. I wish you the best of luck to it.

    1) Do you ship outside of Australia? Does not mention on the website.

2)Regarding "All orders are subject to a flat rate postage fee of $9.99, regardless of the order size."

Flat rate postage may not work in your favour if you are going to ship a lot of creams. Just my 2cents, may want to work pricing based on weight.

AusPost eParcel service for AU delivery is quite well priced, in fact I'd say that on the average parcel he will be ahead a bit which will cover the odd big order which is more expensive. I would imagine he is not using the eParcel service at that price point but flatrate satchels. I really don't care as long as things turn up without being damaged.

There's quite a few local vendors popping up now, competition is good. Nice to see a good range of products and a few that nobody else stocks.

Hi Marcus, good to see anothe rlocal store with a great range.
I think I actually ordered a razor&brush stand from you just a couple of days ago.

Will most likely be in touch for some creams and blades over the coming weeks :)

Hi Marcus where are the frank brushes made? $30 for a silvertip looks like a lot cheaper than the ones mensbiz or himage have - would you recommend pure badger or silvertip?

Thanks everyone for showing interest in my shop! I am taking all suggestions into consideration and I thank you all for your help. I should probably make it clear that I currently am only fulfilling Australian orders. I will make sure to update my store to only show Australian currency. I highly doubt I will be receiving any overseas orders anyway, as it is much cheaper to buy locally overseas.

@~Spyne~ Yes I do believe you bought my brush and razor stand. Let me know when you receive it. They are my best seller at the moment and for the price are incredible value.

@Clar162 The brushes you are referring to are made by The Frank Shaving Company in China. Silvertip is the best quality badger hair available, as it is the softest and has the best water retention capabilities. Pure badger is the lowest grade badger hair, and can be a little scratchy on the face. For the price of these brushes, you surely will not be disappointed with the quality.

We here in East Asia might very well order if the shipping is less than from the
US. If you decide venture outside AUS make sure to update us here!

I will look into international postage options in the near future and see if I can come up with something which will be viable for both me and my customers. In the mean time, if there was something you wished to order from me, I could always give you a quote if you pm me.

Thanks Marcus, I went for a semogue which was a lot dearer but get great reviews around here and came with a free proraso gel, just a bit iffy on Chinese made things after a past bad experience - may come for the Mitchells though.

Actually there was a lot of interest in the marijuana hemp shave stick internationally if not just for the novelty value..... worth thinking about..

( and yes, people outside the US want VDH and Williams so why not Mennen, Palmolive or Fauldings ..... these damned shavers sure are an obsessive lot )

( Must admit that personally I wasn't that happy with the lather from the marijuana stick and it didn't even smoke very well )
