To smile or not to smile????

I have a couple of razors now to practice and improve my honing skills. I have found info easy enought on how to hone a smiling razor and a straight edage, but not much on how to change one to the other.

Can our more experienced honers give us some advice? How do you straighten out a smiling razor and how do you make a straight one smile?

If it's smiling, leave it smiling.
If it's straight, leave it straight.

You don't wanna change them around, as the spine will be smiling/straight as well.

I agree. Everyone gets rid of a frown. Most of us leave blades with smiling or straight edges as they are. If the spine is grossly out of harmony with the edge, I will reconstruct. But, usually, unless there is a frown, I hone within the edge inherited.

Just wondered. I have a Henckels that only curves at the tip.
