Purchased the brush on the Bay. I put the bristles into a bench vice and cut off the old bristle with a hack saw. I pulled out some of the remaining bristles with pliers and drilled out the remaining with a forstner bit. I drilled through the knot shelf and filled the handle cavity with epoxy to the height I wanted. I've done this before and I think it adds a nice heft to the brush. Once the epoxy in the handle was dry, I set the knot.
The knot is a 20mm silver tip from TGN set to about a 2" loft. I used a pastel oil crayon to fill in the trademark--I haven't used the crayons before and I hope it will last. Before and after photos:
