Valet Autostrop for sale. This is the Valet with the metal case. It was made in Canada so it is scarcer than the common US made one. It includes all of the VALET stamped blades in the picture as well. Razor has been cleaned but not polished so it has that dull brass look to it. $10 includes standard shipping. My brother just gave me one of these. I can't figure out how the stropping is done. Do you have a clue?

Yes there is another kit that has a strop with it. You run the blade over the strop while it is on the razor but it has been a while since I had one and I don't remember exactly. I will check arround and see what I find for you.

I believe the strop had some sort of loop on one end to loop on a doorknob or similar. The free end of the strop was fed through the head of the razor, the the razor was stropped by running up and back, with the head flopping back and forth (like a Rolls I guess).

In Mr. Krumholz's book, he comments on a Gillette executive of the day stating that the Autostrop's main selling point was that the owner could "play" with it.
