I scored an Ehsan in a swap deal. This is my first Simpsons brush.

I used it this morning. Must say, the Rooney 3/1 feels a little better on my face.

Got a large natural combo coti and a Simpsons vintage barrel brush in butterscotch.

Here's the story on the brush. Three months ago I won a Vintage Chubby 2 from a seller on eBay. It arrived and was much loved. I hugged him and squeezed him, and named him George. Last week I saw the barrel brush on eBay and knew it would be mine. I put a snipe bid that I was sure would absolutely guarantee it would be mine (Only seen ONE before on eBay and I had high bid at 100ish for entire auction, then snipers took it over $150 last second, wasn't gonna let that happen this time). But apparently being rebadged meant the other guys weren't going crazy on it like they had for that one, so I won it Cheap... really cheap.

Anyway, the package gets here. I open it. And it's a Hoffritz 102 (Simpson Chubby 2). Beautiful brush and I want it, but not what I had won. So now I have the dilemna* of "do I offer to keep the brush (since it's easily worth what I paid)" or "do I ask to return it for the one I may never have another chance at getting and risk the seller not being able to find it (I considered that the seller might have been unhappy with the final price and deliberately tried to screw up the sale, certain unethical eBay sellers have ripped me off in the past when I won auctions for a song, one actually was detailed as it went down in a "score" thread a couple months back... and the seller turned out to be a member (who was very active in BST at the time)) then have to return the 102 for a refund and get NO beautiful Simpson brush.

In the end I realized that someone else may have won the 102, so I had to notify the seller that I had it. I did, and while doing so I found a cached eBay page from the Hoffritz 102 (twin to this brush) I had won a few months back. It was the same seller. When I contacted her about the error, she apologized, immediately found the right brush and offered to switch them back immediately at her own cost. "Not so fast" I said. "I like the brush, and if you want to do a swap, I'll be happy to, but if you're planning to sell this brush too, I'll be happy to buy it now and save everyone some trouble." Or something like that. She said OK, but I don't know what it's worth, so make me an offer. I looked at the last 102 I bought from her. This one was about the same condition. So I mentioned the auction and offered her about $10 more than what I had paid before. She agreed and now I own THREE beautiful vintage Butterscotch Hoffritz Rebadged Simpsons, including a (quite rare from what I've seen), barrel shaped one that I've sought for some time.

Anyone know what the barrel brush model was called by Simpson? I'm going to PM Gary to see if he knows, but he seems to have gotten chased off the internet by some inconsiderate fellow so I may have lost my best chance for the info surrounding this brush.

*Ok, dilemna is the correct spelling, this mm spelling is nonsense. I googled it and apparently there's a big hubbub about this new spelling somehow becoming the "correct" one online. "mn" forever!

A certain soap... (thanks Ian! )

    ...and a certain €10 razor.

Yes, it is a British Aristocrat #66... bought on an antiques fair for only €10. The razor (and plating) is in pristine condition.

    bargains on dbay? occasionally -

    for $4.00 + shipping:

the soap is unused. There is room for another item in the gift box (a missing item...) - I don't know what might have been included with shaving soap - was there an English Leather shaving brush?

In any event - I love this soap - and I'm happy to have an inexpensive back-up to the puck in play.

...and great grab on the #66!! THAT is a key buy!

I got some of that soap too. It smells wonderful.

Nice score on the razor but I wouldn't have gone above €6.50 for it

Thats a great deal on the soap. I got one without the box for something around $30 awhile back. Used it a few times (great soap, had scent left even), then traded it on BST for a lot of very nice a/s.

    indeed? win/win, then!

note the colors on this new acquisition (brown label/brown top/darkish tan bowl) are different from the one you passed along (red outlined-saddle label/red top/beige bowl).

I wonder how many versions are out there?

Default received my ebay score goodwill razor

Got this Goodwill off ebay for $12.00

The handle has the requisite cracks and actually needed the ends glued back on.

I really like this head style and the plating is in great shape.

WOW....I love em' ...I hope I can run across something like that!
I do have a load of brushes coming in for me tomorrow at an antique store. The guy said he used to collect mugs and would put a brush in each one. I am hoping for at least one butterscotch. C'mon Chubby...He did mention that he had some new fuller's still in the box.

Indeed, I wonder if it's just vintage differences or if the soap/scent is different as well.

Pashana 7 is my favorite aftershave splash currently. The scent really dries down nicely on me. Alt Innsbruck is great too, maybe a third or fourth favorite.

Early last week I was putting a blade into my ball end Tech and I dropped it. The screw on the head snapped clean off, rendering the Tech useless. I'm currently living in a college dorm and, besides my Bump Fighter (Trac II), that was the only razor I had. I used this as a perfect excuse to order an Edwin Jagger DE89L. It arrived today, and I'm blown away. This thing exudes quality. The attention to detail is amazing. I couldn't get a proper picture of it due to my poor photography skills and the fact that it's so dang shiny.

Default RL Safari Soap & $15 Butterscotch "46"

Here they are. I bought this butterscotch Simpsons Berkeley aka "46" 3 weeks ago on eBay. The seller had a BIN option however there were no postage offer for Turkey there said worldwide. I had no doubt to buy this brush. Its cost was $15 plus $6 shipping. It is a steal. So here it is. RL Safari soap is another great bargain for this my hearty thanks to you, Ian. It smells one of her kind and performs very well. It is a shame which is a discontinued product.

My aftershave AD seems to be getting the best of me lately.
This is a combined photo of latest two packages in my mailbox.
After a couple uses, I have to say the Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn takes a top spot on the new favorites list... simply incredible in scent and quality .
