For some reason, I've had a hard time picking one of these up, but this one came with a mug and I was the only one to bid on it. $6 for the brush and mug, but shipping was $10. Still seems reasonable to me. Before and after cleaning:

Default cool brush and what is it?

My favorite finds for February are this brush and this razor. The brush is apparently a J. Peterman, found it at an antique store. Another member had one he'd had for years and said it was about $60. It's solid brass, super heavy with a badger knot. Help me out on this razor... I thought it was a Nickel-plated NEW, but it has a head like an OLD-Type, then I realized it's smaller than a NEW and doesn't say Gillette anywhere on it. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I came across this razor today, it seems to be a DE disposable. It is unused and it seems to have a weighted handle that rattles when you shake it. I have never seen one like this. Does anyone have any info, if it opens I can't figure it out.

Actually that is what I thought when I first saw it, but it has a blade in it.

Have you tried a screw driver down that hole in the handle? It might have a screw?

It looks like Japanese style design from the late 60's, early 70's. Can't be sure though.

I got this whole back row of old spice for 1.00 each today in my hunting spot.
The man said they had been hit hard recently by shaving stuff buyers.Looks like I don't have it to myself anymore.

I looked down the handle no screw, what I'm thinking it might in a medical prep razor???

My guess was Japanese as well, very well made and almost too good to be disposable, but then I found this picture.

I can see medical prep as a bit higher quality. If anyone knows please speak up.

Today I got some cool stuff at a couple antique stores in town I hadn't tried yet.

A nice black painted wood handled aluminum brush that reads "Design Pat #48050 Heldtite". On the bottom is a letter "K" which I believe someone carved into it long ago.

I also got the Gillette DE (no date code) from/for Brasil and it's in great shape. I picked it up for $4.00! What kind is it, by the way?

Third, I picked up this wrapped box of 50 double edge blades, which I have no idea what they look like or how old they are! This was $5.00!

And last, my new straight I got just for the purpose of this thread! It was tagged for $10. I bargained with the owner and took the Brasil-Gillette (tagged for $4) and this busted-up razor for $10.00 cash. That means I paid only $6.00 for this. I'm stoked to have this blade as resto challenge!

I just looked up the patent on the Holdtite brush. The patent was granted for 3.5 years starting October 26, 1915. Wow, this thing is almost 100 years old!
