I wish I could find a local place like that to get a shave!
Beats the heck out of the "Roosters" they just opened here! (worst shave of my life!)

It sure does look like the place to go. Too bad most places don't give a shave like that anymore in the U.S.

I've been to Ireland twice. Both times were before I started wet shaving and had a real appreciation for a great shave.
Maybe this calls for another trip.

    Default Great Video

    Sig:

Great video. I also wish we had an old time shop like that around my area. I would visit them as often as I could given that I don't have much hair anymore. Thanks for sharing.

Woah that's just down the road from my college. Think I'll have to pay a visit soon.

Why can't we have something like that here? It's always wham, bam, next hairy man! I long for a barbershop where they actually care about the end result and don't rush through it to get to their next tip.

That barber shop is very special indeed. It is not simply "old fashioned" but it is a working museum of classic shaving, and genuine vintage haircuts.

"It is a pleasure working here". What a great thing to say about your work.

    Wow lucky!

Let us know how it was if you do make it over there.

I was watching it and saw how they were doing all the different styles and I thought wow I wonder if they use an old fashion hand clipper to do the sides like that and sure enough there it was.

Yeah it's sad but I think we have paid a price for "faster modern" living.

    Any star trek fans here?

Remember how Riker would like to do some things the old way and Data or someone else would ask why not just use the replicator?

No problem, it'll be close to the end of the month, need a certain cut for an opera I'm in, but I'll definitely report back :)

+1. I've never been to Ireland, but I caught myself thinking "How much would a trip to Ireland cost, anyway?" This will definitely be on my list of things to do if I ever make it there.

This is my regular barbers, it's a good place but the service can vary greatly. Now I'll start by saying I've never had a shave here, only many wash and cuts (been nowhere else for five years). On certain occasions they've really taken their time and made me feel appreciated but other times I've been in and out in ten minutes with a very average haircut. There can be a lengthy wait as well and in that old barbershop tradition everyone is expected to just remember whose turn it is next. Difficult when there's 10 people waiting and two different waiting areas!
Armedcor, I'd be very interested in hearing what you have to say about your experience at The Waldorf. One thing I will say though is if you go in at the right time and get the right barber it really is a fantastic experience. It's the only place in Dublin I'd even consider getting a straight shave as well.

Ireland is a wonderful trip even without this place. I was able to make it there once but it was before I was into traditional wetshaving so I was not aware of the Waldorf but still had a blast. Good beer and even better people(just don't challenge them to a drinking contest).

    Thumbs up

Wow simply AWESOME and talk about being 'pampered' and in business for 82yrs too...the Waldorf Barbershop ('A brush with the past"), would certainly be on my weekly visit (and bucket), list and "A Cut Above".

Well, you know what they say in Dublin...'the luck of the Irish' to have such a tenured establishment.

Thanx for the video clip member Sigthorson...I just inserted the 'You Tube - wrap' around your link.

    Thanks!

The last time I tried the youtube tag it worked in the preview then didn't work after I hit the post button so I don't do it now.

When I get time though I might play around with it in the test forum to see if I'm doing anything wrong.

    sigthorson:
It doesn't show up on Preview (why I don't know why either ), but it will YouTube 'tag' you when Submit.

The problem I was having is I was putting the youtube tag around all the embedding code because embedding it alone wasn't working so I thought it needed the tag.

When I saw yours I realized the tag should go around the URL of the video.
