A trilby has a smaller brim and is, in my opinion, smarter than a fedora. I got mine at Smith & Caughey's in Queen Street. I think Kirkcaldie & Staines would carry a good range of hats - I'd be a bit cautious about buying a hat online.

I have bought several from them over the years and they are an excellent vendor. My favourite is their Federation fedora.
In my mind, Akubra is probably the best bang for the buck you can get in proper hats!
