Anyone ever tried these? It seems to be in many vintage cases, and I don't dare use them. And I want them in the case. So I'm selfish enough to ask if anyone has tried them

Yes, I have used them many times. The ones I have are from 1971. I get a good reasonable shave from them. How old are the ones you have?

Based on that they came with a 1950's tech, I'd say around 60 years old ?
Seems to me you may have the older red and black packs.
I'm in the same boat. I have quite a few but have been hesitant to use them.
I would use them If they pull in anyway or hurt stop.
