compatibility question: pre shave oil + shave cream = ??

I suppose this question has been asked and answered a dozen times, but my feeble search skills aren’t getting it done.

I hear there can be conflicts between pre shave oils and shave creams. Is this true? If so, why? Just how obvious/hazardous are these conflicts? I assume I won’t burst into flame. Will the lather vanish into wet goo? Instant toxic sludge and 2nd degree burns? Is there a general rule that might allow a newbie to forecast compatibility? Do soaps have the same issue?

I agree. I have never had a problem using both.

If you slather on the oil, it'll clog up your brush and mess up your lather.
If you use the recommended 3-4 DROPS only, shouldn't be a problem.
