Ever Conceal, Never Reveal
Good old Jack LaLanne has left us at the ripe old age of 96. With him a little piece of manliness has also died. I know he helped a lot of fellas to get in shape and make better life decisions. A true tough as nails guy from the toughest generation in American history. Goodnight Jack.

One of my bowling buddies passed at the age of 98. He bowled 3 nights a week up until the end and still took his summer trip to Canada every year. The secret is healthy living and keeping active.

I actually thought he passed away years ago.
The guy was about as close to Superman as a mortal human can be.
He was just one of those guys that you just kinda assumed was gonna live forever
RIP, Jack.

I know I am a pain but I love CBN!
I remember watching him on a black and white TV as a kid, his wore a one piece jump suit and his torso was shaped like a V with arms with bulging muscles. Another little piece of my childhood passes. I am surprisingly very saddened at his loss. My flights of angels take thee to thy rest Jack.
A combination of clean elegance with a vague forboding of dread is attractive.
I had the pleasure of meeting him on a street in LA about 15 years ago, when he already was no spring chicken. He and his lovely wife were stepping from a car into a restaurant, but a small group of people gathered quickly, as if drawn by a magnet. He displayed more energy than I've ever had, seemed truly happy to talk to the people, and looked like a much younger man who was ready to begin an inspirational workout. Actually, he looked a lot like my childhood memory of his then-unique TV show.

Years ago, a brother officer stopped Mr. Lalane for a DUI check on the Long Beach Freeway. He was going home from a meeting with Long Beach City and Coast Guard officials. He had been plannng his annual birthday swim across Long Beach Harbor with passenger laden rowboats chained to his waist. He swore the officer to secrecy. Needless to say, Mr. Lalane had not been drinking anything other than juice he had made and said he only slept 4-5 hours a night because there was always so much to do.
As the officer was one of our Area Physical Fitness Coordinators he told Mr. Lalane many of our officers experience lower back problems from sitting in a car for hours at a time then suddenly going into emergency mode. He asked Mr. Lalane if he had any suggestions. He said Mr. Lalane literally jumped out of his car and for 30-minutes gave my friend a fitness class on the shoulder of the Long Beach Freeway regarding lower back exercises that could be completed by our officers. My friend said Mr. Lalane was one of the most enthusiastic, energetic and positive individuals he had ever met in his life. Before leaving, Mr. Lalane gave my friend a loaf of Jack Lalane 100% Whole Wheat Bread and invited him to the Birthday Swim.
Needless to say, we have lost a one-of-a-kind individual whom many of us grew up watching. God Speed Mr. Lalane and get those people in Heaven in great shape. You will be missed.

I remember my mom working out with Jack in the late 1960's when I was a preschooler and every day till he went off the air in 1984.
RIP to the Granddaddy of Personal Fitness!!!
I'm a ole Minister who loves the Ole South. I am an Arko Acolyte.
When he was 60, he swan hancuffed from Alcatraz across SF Bay to prove it is possible to escape swimming, and all he needed was a chair to stay in shape.
They don't make them like him anymore

I almost thought I was on another forum and this was a "Goodnight Sweet Prince" thread that is common there... that's how hard it is to believe that man could die. I thought he was an android.

You know, Jack always said that the worst thing you could do to your body was not using it. Words to live by.

Wassup, brah.
Amazing man.
I watched one of his old black and white "workout" shows about 7 or 8 years ago...he was so impressive. He did workouts without the equipment, but were insanely tough. Finger pushups and body-weight exercises. He was far more flexible than I ever could be too.
If I dare say it, the man was a beast. Very intelligent too.
96 great years. RIP, Jack.
