Default My HD Fat Handle Tech

Like many, I wanted my fatty tech to have a little more heft. Here is my first attempt. I wanted to maintain the original look as much as I could. It's quite a bit heavier as it is solid brass, however my final version will be just a little bit heavier. I didn't have any 1/2" brass stock so I had to use 1/2" allthread. By the time I got the threads machined off it ended up being slightly smaller (od) than the original. I'll get some good brass tomorrow and have another go!

    Nice job!
I still have the "Pike Dog" handle that you gave me. With a New Deluxe head it weighs 5 ounces. The bottom pic is a Big Fellow, Pike Dog, Big Fellow De Luxe, and a New Deluxe

With that head on it, shouldn't it be the " Pike Dog De Luxe" ?

For those folks without a machine shop out back, you can just add weight inside the hollow handle of the fat tech.

    Nice looking work, Pike.

Thank you! You can see a handle above I made for Highball to use with a De Luxe head....There are some old threads around from when I made a batch of keys for the "Psycho" razors that a member found. I'll see if I can find some of them. Thanks again!!

I mostly use straights now days, but I think the weight is just about right. I use it most of the time when I use a razor that it will screw on to. Its a great solid handle

Chris most people think "lathe" is a kinda siding on a house.
I recent replaced the motor on my lathe.

    Thank you Gents!

That's awesome Bob! I like the micro v belt. Did you have to change out all the pulleys? If I remember correctly your lathe is old enough to have come with v belts??

No mine had a flat leather belt.
I did have to pull the spindle to install the belt without splicing it, but I had the spindle out anyway when I refurbished the lathe.
The micro v belt grip like crazy and will last for decades.
I had an old 110 volt Dayton motor that was opened, it was starting to get quite warm when I ran the lathe.
The new motor is a 1/2 hp TEFC Weg that I got off e-bay for $80 including shipping.
I have it wired for 220 volts, it can run all day and barely get warm.

Not to go off topic, and here I go, that is a nice piece of wood underneath that lathe...
