Default Dont fear the Futur and Feather Newbies

If you are a newbie to shaving and have read how powerful the Futur could be with a Feather and read all of those "stay clear comments" about the feather blades, ignore the comments! Ok.. maybe your first week of shaving be careful (read: use them, but be careful) but after that open the bad boy up to 6!!

I have only been DE shaving for a week and last night decided why am I using this on 2??? Lets open this bad boy up!!

I have to say shaving on 6 was easier!! Maybe it's just me, but the perfect angle seems easier to find. (or maybe its me being confident knowing a brand new feather and this bad boy opened up means just let it touch your face lightly) In either case I just hovered over my face and neck and heard swwwwwooosshhhhh as all the hair was spliced off. For someone with a pretty dense and tough beard it worked great. Best part, noway do I need to shave till tomorrow, 2 days and most will still say at the end of day 2, what a good shave you get. That's just how close and great the shave was.

So to anyone fearing, dont. Get the feather in your Futur and open that bad boy up all the way.

(ok, dont curse me if you cut yourself but I am sure you will do fine and will be glad you did)

Enjoy your 6 setting. Tell me how your face feels after a week.
I and many others here find that 3 is just about right. I use Feathers exclusively.
And to you newbies. I agree there is nothing to fear with this combo. But I wouldn't go to 6 right away. I have shaved on 6 myself and it was a good shave. But not better than a 3 setting.

Wide open Futur with Feather is one of my 2 favorite combos (the other is a 37c)

I'll have to take a pass on that one. I'm quite happy using my Feathers and Futur on 2. Not that it gets much use anymore since I've migrated to straights.

I've just about gone completely with Feathers. I like them in every razor I have. I'm a relative newbie (3 months), but I get the best with the Feather.

First use of Feather blade in my Futur was on 0 or below 1, at least. Very small gap.

Got redness that I do not get from the Merkur blades.

Might try it on a higher setting to see if you have a point there.

I agree with the OP. When I first started I was scared of aggressive razors, or high settings. Then I tried it and loved it. Depends on the day though. I like to switch it up for how my face is feeling.
