Default Anybody used these Shavemac brushes?

These brushes are in my price range. I was wondering if anybody has used any of the models on this page?

    Is it nice and soft?
Can it be used with soaps? I just heard that some can't be used with soaps cause they are too soft.

For the best value you might consider a custom Shavemac in Finest:

Is finest badger the same as super? How different does it feel from silvertip?
As long as it is way softer than my Tweezerman I'm happy.

So would a silvertip not be able to handle soaps?

It is soft but does have sufficient backbone to work with soaps. In the reviews you will find some reference to Shavemacs at that knot size. Please have a look (I use mostly creams).

Well, my Tweezerman knot is coming loose. It just rattles around in the handle, but its still in there prety good. I can't order my Shavemac till 2/18 when I get paid.

I just ordered mine last night. 21mm finest set in faux marble with a 48mm loft. For less than $60 after the B&B discount for a custom brush, it's an amazing value!

Yes, we get a 12% discount on products ordered directly through Shavemac. Follow this link for more information.

The brush I ordered is a custom using Shavemac's finest grade badger hair in a fan shape. I chose the handle style #25 in faux marble. I went with a 21mm knot set at a loft of 48mm. With this being my first custom, I went somewhat safe on the dimensions and practically mirrored the #177, which uses a 21mm knot set at 49mm. I'm hoping with the density and relatively average loft that I will end up with a versatile brush that will work with both soaps and creams. With all the wonderful reviews of not only the #177, but also Shavemac's finest grade in general, I'm sure that I will be more than satisfied with the finished product. Now all I have to do is wait, which is easier said than done. You can create your own custom brush by following this link. If there are any options not available on that page, as was the case for me, just email Bernd and he will be more than happy to accomodate you.

Sounds like a nice brush Travis. As you mentioned it'll be a nice 'all-rounder'. Enjoy.

Thanks for the info. One problem though...

I can choose what kind of handle I want, what grade of hair I want, but there is nothing that lets me choose what size knot/loft or hair shape I want. It doesn't show any other measurements than the loft. Am I on the right page?

you guys are awesome. Thanks for all the feedback and advise. I do have one last question though.

I can't decide between the Shavemac finest badger or silver tip badger hair. I've heard that both are very high quality. Cost would keep me from silvertip unless there were not other options. I just won't want something that is going to scratch and irritate my face like my Tweezerman badger brush. Has anybody used the Finest brushes from Shavemac w/out silvertip? Are they scratchy or really soft?

Shavemac's Finest is very high quality, I think you would be very happy with a custom Finest w/ shortened loft.
