Soap with bowl $13.99 with FREE shipping. Aftershave might be cheaper too, "only 17 left".

Can someone describe the Tabac scent to me? I've been using Proraso and VDH and want to try something new that's applauded by many, but don't want anything flowery or super-old-man-musky. Anything that might smell like a barber shop is fine with me.

Also, how easy is it to work a refill into a non-Tabac bowl I already own? I'm guessing I should avoid the microwave (made that mistake with Arko), so is it basically just a grate-and-pack process? If so, I'll save the difference and go with the refill.

Sorry if I'm asking too many questions in the deals section, but the sale sparked my interest.

NOTHING is more like barbershop than Tabac. Huge favorite with wetshavers. Be warned though - there are many people who absolutely hate the fragrance also.
You are right about microwave. It is very easy to mill the puck into any bowl. I would strongly suggest to get the Tabac in ceramic bowl. It is not worth to save the 4$ for that beautiful bowl. Once this deal is gone, you won't find bowls (without any soap) for even 10$.

PM me your mailing address, and I'll send you a used puck of the Tabac shaving soap once I receive my replacement shipment from FragranceX.

Unless you are incredibly well versed in scent taxonomy/descriptions ... I don't think any description will give you a good idea of what Tabac is like. However, you did mention you didn't want it to be "old man" and in some ways Tabac is just that. Look in the BST and pick up someone's "used" Tabac as there are always those who buy it ... and hate it ;-) However, I love it.

On a similar topic posted in a different section of the site, I said that the smell of Tabac reminded me of nothing less than scent of wet farm animals cowering inside a barn on a rainy day.

I still hold to that description, but I've learned to live with it. I'll never like the smell, but, over time, the pervasiveness of the aroma gradually subsides. I only use my cheapest brush with it, however. And I completely wash my face afterward to get rid of every trace of its lingering after-odor.

Still, in spite of its funk it's the best lathering soap I've ever used, including Cade, MWF and Proraso. For that alone it's worth it.

So much so that I just ordered the $13.99 refill deal here, although my current Tabac pack has plenty of life left on it.

I received mine yesterday and tried it this morning. A soapy scent, but a very manly soap. I can't place my nose on it, but I'm not well versed in scent diagnostics.

    Great shave though.

Just ordered...I really didn't need this (I still have three Tabac Shaving Sticks left), but this was too nice to pass-up, particularly with the bowl included.

I got mine today ... I still have some left of a puck with out the bowl, so this was a great deal for the soap and bowl to look forward to.
