Short Handle vs Long Handle Super Adjustable--what's the scoop?

I've tried to search the forums for some history on the short versus long-handled super adjustables and haven't found much. The Wiki was equally as vague on this particular comparative quandry.

Did they get produced concurrently? Was one more readily available than the other? All I ever seem to see are long-handles and I;m wondering how many short-handled there are compared to the long.

I have both. Not sure to the specific questions you asked, but, I don't see much difference other than length.

I prefer the longer one.
