  1. Default Kind of a dumb question.

Would soaking a brush in peroxide to "bleach" the color damage the brush? There is a silvertip brush with a green handle I want and I think making the hair lighter would make it look better. In before noob flaming.

It's your brush, and I'm not going to flame you. But I wouldn't do it. The peroxide might weaken the hairs, encouraging the tips to break off. It might also weaken whatever is holding the knot together, causing the brush to shed.

Personally I wouldn't, but I care more about function than appearance. Appearance is necessary to function around others though.

Personally I wouldn't do anything like that to my own brush. But if you're willing to take the risk, take pictures and let us know how it goes!

Also, no one here will ever flame you (hopefully). We like to think that the people here are above that.

I think the peroxide will damage the hair and will ruin the brush down the road.

Have any experience with bleached hair? If not, ask someone that does if that sounds like a good idea to you.

It has been proven that peroxide is harmful to resin and glue as it weakens the bonds. Given this, I would agree with the others. Peroxide is likely bad for the brush as it could negatively impact both the knot and the handle.

BUT, if you do it, I'd love to know if it works!

    Post a pic ?

I recently got a knot from TGN whose tips were a spectacular white, far lighter than others. It was a 2-band finest. extra hair.

Strongly agree on both points. One (the only?)thing certain in wet shaving, it is so YMMV in gear, technique and preference that even if 99.9% of folks advise against something that doesn't mean it won't work for that .1%, and most here realize that. Your procedure may destroy every other brush on the planet but it may make your one brush perfect, for you (but I wouldn't do it)
