Default Why do girls drag their feet? It's annoying

I work at a College. All day long I hear girls (not just teenage, but early 20's too) dragging their feet. ARGHHH. I drives me CRAZY!!!

Is there any scientific reason for this?

ARGHH, they just walked by again now.
Please ladies... pick up your feet.

I know i'm not the only one this annoys.

Did you look when she went by? It's probably to attract attention.

Hmmm I have to say I've never noticed anyone bar kids dragging their feet.
Are they wearing shoes that are sandals or flip flops? Or maybe too big for them?
    Sounds odd indeed.

I was just thinking about this over the weekend because I saw several girls dragging their feet. Maybe they weren't put through pageant training by their mothers to teach them how to elegantly glide!

I think it's a young person's thing. My mother had 3 constant refrains directed at all of us kids (boys and girls)
    Stop slouching.
    Don't bite your nails.
Lift your feet when you walk.

I don't think any of us ever listened.

It's something about people my age and younger. It drives me up the wall, especially when the person is walking near you for a long distance. I usually offer them a "pick your feet up."

Judging by the typical reaction, I do not think it is intentional. Rather a result of their footwear selection.

Good points, it's more of an age or generational thing and not necessarily gender specific.

Yeah it's called being lazy. I wonder how fast kids these days go through a pair of shoes.

It is hard to lift your feet when you survive on 4 cornflakes a day . . .

If they did not drag their feet you would have to hire floor sweepers.

Come to think of it, you're right, I've noticed the same. I think it's a young person's thing too. And I mostly see it with the people who look like they put absolutely NO effort into their wardrobe. Some even still wearing pajamas. I'm in college too, there's no excuse, I look presentable every day.

Ha. That only stops them from wearing shorts/skirts.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have noticed it in young men also. I think it is a lazyness thing to be honest!

Another one that goes along with scuffing their feet is the inability to walk softly. It drives me crazy when people stomp everywhere they go. I think its an upbringing thing(or lack there of) I work at a University and see it all the time.
