    Default Juicer recipes

We recently purchased a juicer. I've always wanted one but thought they were too expensive. When we saw a good brand at Costco for a great price we jumped on it. The first time we used it, we put in two apples, some strawberries, a pear, a few carrots and some celery. What came out looked awful but tasted fantastic. Then next morning my wife made a drink with celery, parsley, spinach, carrots and one apple. It wasn't awful but I think I would have wanted something a little more "fruity" yet still health.

What are your delicious and healthy juicer recipes?

Well, I'm sure you'll get much better replies, but basically anything mixed up in there is delicious. Apples, carrots, oranges, etc. If you want fruity, I'd stick to fruits (obv), and sweeter or more neutral veggies like carrots. Maybe cucumber? Stuff like that. Personally, I'd keep ALL celery out of the juicer. One stick and the whole damn drink smells and tastes like celery. Celery is very pungent.

    That's my two cents.

I juiced for years, then kinda got away from it. The one thing to keep in mind is that you can pack a whole bunch of calories into a glass of juice.
That said; I like to mix apple, carrot, celery, and a little beet. Yummmm.

Twenty years ago I got the Juiceman Juicer. Insanely expensive, especially for my salary at the time, but a great juicer. Jay "The Juiceman" Kordich has lived to the age of 220 and can deflect bullets by drinking carrot and apple juice every day. :-) That was one of the mainstay drinks that I always liked. One apple and enough carrots to fill a large glass. Great stuff.

Another favorite was watermelon. Not really a recipe, unless you count including the rind. Yep, the whole thing. Love it.

Another great juice treat is juicing frozen bananas. It all just shoots out into the waste bin. Pour it into a bowl and eat it like soft serve ice cream. Makes me wish I didn't have the juicer in storage!

Frozen blueberries make any smoothy taste fantastic. Honey works well to cut down on the bitterness of some combos as well.

I usually go veggies + 1 fruit. For example, carrots, celery, broccolli, and a pear. To spice it up, you can put ginger, lemon, lime, etc.

I researched a lot of juicers, but opted for a vitamix. The juicers seemed to be all about natural sugars an no fiber. I thought the fiber was a necessity. Doesn't mean I still don't want a juicer, but the one I want seems a bit too pricy. Soft berried iirc was my main issue and most couldn't extract those well.

The whole watermelon, including the rind!?! Are you serious? Is it even edible or does it only provide extra fiber? I am not knocking what you are saying, I just would have not have imagined drinking what I would not otherwise eaten.

Maybe I should get a juicer for a watermelon, cantaloupe, peach, strawberry, squash...mixture!

50% carrot, 40% apple (not red delicious, I like Fujis), 10% ginger (by volume)

A juicer will extract the juice and shoot everything else out as waste, so you can put whole fruits and vegetables in without worrying about rinds and peels. It'll change the taste, of course.

You're thinking of a blender or smoothie maker, where you have to remove the non-edible parts first (although putting a whole lime in will make the most face-puckering smoothie ever!)

This. It's really nice and refreshing.

Also, try pineapple/blackberry. When the pineapple is ripe and sweet, the tart blackberries add a nice tangy edge to the drink.
