and finally a select Bout, also from another B&Ber....
this has a very interesting grain and i've yet to dive into this as I'm working mostly the original Coti I got from Jarrod right now but it's got a great feel to it.

The first one is most likely La Grise, the second one is even more likely La Grise, and the last one is probably La Dressante.

thanks rich, yup the 7382 w 16mm of coti, took a while to decide but Jarrod was very generous with his time in helping me make a selection., and I am extremely pleased with this stone. Thiis is the stone I'm really working with to learn my technique on- I've played with the other two a smidgen, of course, but I'm trying to learn on one and then I'll be able to have a better appreciation and understanding of the speed difference etc on the other two - and any more I may add to the collection down the road.
I can say as someone who was a bit intimidated by the thought of honing for myself (for years my neighbor Jack, RIP, did it for me for a tin of tobacco here and there) but already I'm getting smoother edges than he was providing - I assume he was using Norton 4k/8k and finishing on a Naniwa?? - but not 100% sure and never really asked. When he passed, his son got all of his pipes and razors and accessories, I'm just hoping it spurs an interest in the hobbies for him... I could tell Jack always wanted him to use his treasured razors and pipes.
Anyhoo, I'm now experimenting with edges straight from the coti, those finished on CrOx, and experimenting with # of strops on both linens, suede and various leather strops... and I'm anything but intimidated now. It's pure fascination!
It really is mind boggling the different edges one can get by adjusting pressure, # of laps, amount of slurry vs water - I am convinced the secret is the near pressure-less strokes on just water, after diluting the slurry a few times.... looking forward to give mineral oil a try to see if it gets a bit keener yet. (thanks Alfredo!)
I am so eager to learn. I completely understand why so many here end up with HAD... cause I got it BAD - though I'm taking a break now to get a feel for what I've got before I splurge anymore. :)
I trust you will enjoy yours as much as I am mine!
best
Joshua

def want to hear your thoughts on it when you get it!
I'm only really honing on the 7382 I got from Jarrod - want to figure that stone out before playing with the others.... and its' my first
used mineral oil on it last night for the first time and oh my!!! I can see what the fuss is about!

as I am sure you are well aware, it comes FAST!!!! ;)
I am new to honing so despite acquiring a few I'm sticking to one.
