    Default The Fat Boy Sings!

My new to me E4 Fat Boy come today. I set it on 5, loaded up a Derby and just finished my first shave with it. Love it! My father gave me one in 1960 along with a brush and a mug of Old Spice...I was fourteen.

I'm a year younger than you, and today I took my first shave with the E1 Fatboy I received in yesterday's mail. I set mine on "7", loaded a Red-Pack Persona, and got a really fine BBS shave with my new tub of Cella.

I've always wanted a Fatboy, and if it had been my first razor, I would have saved a lot of time and money in my search for a truly great razor. This thing is remarkably well built and absolutely flawless in operation.

I also am still using the '63 Slim adjustable given to me by my dad when I started shaving that year.

The Fatboy is a very rewarding razor once you figure out which blades pair with it the best and what settings are optimal for your shaving technique. For me, the number is 5. It's an outstanding razor which I love.

I shave with a Fat Boy also and have found that Derbys perform the best in it... on 5 as well.

The fat boy looks like such an aggressive razor, but it's one of the smoothest ones you'll find.

This morning I decided to shave half of my face with my, new to me, E4 Fat Boy, and the other half with my new Muhle R89. The Fatboy had a twice used Derby verticle and the R89 was loaded with a Feather that had been used three times and was set on five. Both razors felt incredibly smooth with the Muhle feeling slightly more aggressive. I changed the setting on the Fatboy to six and now it seemed to have a slight edge and aggressiveness. I love them both. With these two razors and my Rooney 3/1 Silvertip, I can conquer the world.

Perhaps we should start Fat Boy on 5 with Derbys club. :D

    Default love my fatboy

The fatboy with Red Pack Personas on a 9 setting is a fantastic shave. Don't be afraid to dial it up with this blade

Congats. Nice to find something that has a special meaning. Was the shaving mug your dad gave you something memorable, too? You might can find that on one of the boards too?

    Enjoy in good health!

mglad, I've used the Made-In-USA Personnas for years with good results. After reading this forum for a few days, I ordered a Muhle R89 and a sample pack of blades. After I burn through the sample pack, which may take a while, I'll give the Reds a try...so far I like the Feathers and the Derbys. Thanks for the tip.

stewartu, I've already found two Old Spice mugs at an antique store and now keep one on the boat and one at home.

I lost my first one in my travels years ago. It's great to have found another of the same vintage.

On a setting of 9??!!! Holy cow! I'd permanently shave my face off on that setting.

I do agree with the others, the Fatboy is a super smooth shave. It's #1 in my rotation, next to my #2 which is a Tech. The Red Pack Personnas are also my goto blade.
