    Default ItalianBarber.com January Update

We've added Shavex Alum blocks to the store. A lot of people love these for their size and for the great plastic case that comes included, check it out...

    http://www.italianbarber.com/p45-Sha...stic-case.html

Some of you have asked about the Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegar that was added to the site. No, these aren't for shaving Well, actually the EVOO can probably be used as a shave oil but that wasn't my intention. ItalianBarber.com is a passion for me so I figured since I'm also passionate about great food, why not make available some of the amazing products I import from Italy for my family.

If any of you guys consume Extra Virgin Olive Oil at the rate I do, drop me your email and I can add you to the contact list for next years harvest.

    http://www.italianbarber.com/Extra-V...il-c27_28.html

There are a few cool product surprises coming in the next 2-3 week (hopefully), please check back every-so-often to see my updates.

One last thing... we are trying to grow our Facebook page so I invite all my friends here to join, if that's your thing...

    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Italia...65701773467097

If you have any product suggestions you'd like to see sold in our store, feel free to PM or email me; I always love hearing from you guys.

Once Again, thanks for your continued support,

    Joseph

If used daily, depending on the brush and how much you load, you are looking about 18-24 months. I use a larger Omega Pro 49 brush with the Morbido and and I like to load for about 30 seconds. I probably use more soap than the average user.

Marco provided an excellent post on how to store P.160 and Cella panetti (bricks)...

I'm happy to hear everything arrived on-time and to your satisfaction.

    Just a quick update...

As requested, we added the "New Products" feature to the website; we finally got it working this weekend.

    http://www.italianbarber.com/products_new.php

We should be receiving a shipment of Acqua Classica Borsari and Acqua di Selva sometime this week.

    cheers,

    Joseph

Good to hear. I am in need of reordering more RazoRocks, and would like to try the Borsari. What strengths/sizes of this will you be receiving?

I ordered the Eau de Cologne in the 100ml spray bottle.

With the high-praise I've been hearing about Borsari I had to get some for myself so I figured why not list a few bottle for sale in the store.

Also, I got the "real scoop" about P.160 from Biochimica this morning. When I get some time I will pass on the information in one of my weekly updates.

    cheers,

    Joseph

Any update on that expensive italian soap that comes in the long bricks? I forget the name but the jar you can buy looks like a blue flower pot?

    ItalianBarber.com update for January 23, 2011

This week we found out valuable (and saddening) information about the Legendary P.160. My partner and I have been practically begging Biochimica to start producing P.160 again for us. We even went so far to saying we would personally commit to thousands of units with cash up-front. I think the company finally got fed up and spilled the beans! I cannot confirm this information other than what the company has told us but here goes...

P.160 was never produced by Biochimica! Biochimica simply marketed and distributed this amazing soft soap on behalf of an artisan that made the product in his own Laboratory. This older gentleman decided it was time to 'call it quits' and because he didn't have anyone that was willing to take over the manufacturing, he just shut production down. Biochimica also informed us that there is a lot of demand from southern Italy (from Barbers) that still want this product. In southern Italy, many barbers would keep many panetti of P.160 on hand and cut on chunks (and give them away) when asked by loyal customers. It's a real shame and because this is my personal favorite shaving soap this was not news I wanted to hear. It looks like this product is gone for good and will never make a return. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for people that love this stuff.

On a positive note. We were able to get another small shipment from a wholesaler in Napoli. We paid substantially more for the product, especially because of the ex-works component. For now we are still selling the 1kg bricks but as we run down we may only sell the cut-pieces in order to make distribution fair for everybody. We are constantly working to track down any remaining stocks and buy them up. That said, who knows if we'll find anymore.

I have been getting a few emails a week regarding discount codes...

I just want to clarify this, just in case others are wondering the same thing.

I prefer not to play the higher-price and occasional discount code game.

I don't believe in it because you are over-charging people most of the time and rewarding people when it's “convenient-for-me”. Also, people that miss the coupon code pay more and get upset if they find out later.

As a customer, it has always frustrated me. I place an order somewhere only to find out a week later that there was a discount code and I could of saved some money.

I prefer to offer the best prices from out of the gate.

That's why you sell Proraso for $6.99 when most are $9, Cella for $8.99 when most are $11-12, Proraso Balm for $12.99 when most are $16.99, OSMA blocks for $7.99, when most are $10-14, etc etc etc

I could raise prices by 10-15% and offer a 10-15% code, but I'm a straight up guy and I hate games.

Sorry if this isn't the answer you wanted to hear but I have to run the business in a way that i feel benefits all my customers equally.

The third thing I want to mention...

I have been getting a lot of long emails lately. Which is great! But guys, remember that I'm here to chat on the phone if you want. I'm generally in my office from 10am to 2pm and if you want to have a conversation about shaving products or you just want to 'shoot-the-breeze', by all means, give me a call. If I'm on the phone, leave me a message and I will call you back. If you don't want to incur long distance charges, email me your phone number and a convenient time and I will call you!

Don't be shy, I'm Italian. Shooting-the-breeze and sharing-a-laugh or a story is what I do best. Don't feel shy to call me just because you aren't placing an order. Honestly and seriously, I do this because I love talking to people, the business side of it is very much secondary.

    Lastly, some business news...

Italy is a funny country to do business with. Stuff I wasn't expecting arrived and stuff I was didn't!

Acca Kappa products started to come in. Unfortunately, the 200ml shaving cream soap ciotola got blitzed right out of the gate and is now out of stock. Seems there are a lot of snipers in the shaving world! LOL; I didn't realize this product was so popular.

Personally, Acca Kappa makes some of my favorite After Shave splashes/lotions and Eau de Colognes and that was my main motivation for bring the products in. My wife absolutely loves the White Moss!

Here is a link to our Acca Kappa page...

    http://www.italianbarber.com/advance...x=0&search.y=0

Regarding Boellis products... we are having issues and they have been delayed. Trust me, I want these more than anyone so I'm frustrated.

We were expecting Borsari and Acqua di Selva last week... go figure, they didn't show up. Hopefully soon.

    Sorry for the long-winded update.

As always, Thanks to everybody for your business and your loyalty!

    A presto,

    Joseph

Nice to read the background of P.160. Thx!

I guess the run on P.160 can be attributed to both the Shaving101 article and Marco's reviews. I have enough soaps'n'creams to last me at least a year, otherwise I would have grabbed a kilo of it too.

Very glad to see that business is going strong here in Canada.
