    Default The upside down shave

Hello all!!!! One week and counting with DE razor....couldn't be any happier. I have read that the weight of the razor should supply enough pressure to shave. This is simple for when your shaving downward...what about if you want to shave in an upward motion? I can see how tilting your head back can help but the force of gravity is still straight downward...what methods have you gentlemen used other than shaving while doing a head stand?

    Welcome to B&B!

You would pull the razor up and "drag" it on your skin...

Well, you could use one of these. Of course, you could also follow Luc's advice.

I'm glad you've clarified that. When I saw the Thread title, I was a little concerned. Now there's a novel idea. Shaving whilst standing on your head!!

Look up the Balance Point Method in the ShaveWiki.

Shaving downward with "no pressure" should prepare you for shaving upward. Just try to mimic the amount of pressure applied by the head of the razor itself in downward passes on upward passes. If you get razor burn, you're applying too much pressure on the upward strokes. Yours is a perfectly reasonable question, and I hope that helps.

The back-stretching devices are really nice, but maybe not for shaving.

I use my Merkur Vision 2000 both N-s and S-n and it works perfectly when I hold it at the balance point when using it upwards, much like I would use the shaving brush to apply lather, if going upwards, that is, with very light pressure, almust just resting it against my skin and lifting the arm.

I had no idea about the balance point method thanks a lot!!!! I guess this plus holding the razor against my face and not pressing on my face should do the trick for an upward shave....otherwise I would need to get one of these...http://www.energycenter.com/ec_graph...fullinvert.jpg

I saw the thread title and I thought about someone standing on their head to shave.
The teeter table seems much easier than trying to balance on one's head while shaving, IMO.

The real challenge is splashing your face with water as it tends to accumulate in the nostrils.

All jokes aside, just use a delicate touch, and you should have no problems shaving upwards.
