I want to know this as well. Particularly in regard to timors and bolzanos

I personally get the best shave from Derby Extra and Dovo Solingen blades. Dovo is quiet expensive, so my daily to go blades are Derby...
I see people using one blade for 5 shaves... you guys must have a skin like baby... i can use max twice...

    Feather, then Astra.

For NOS, it would be Personna 74, Gillette Spoiler, and Schick Super Chromes.

Elios blades are for me very good. They are, in my opinion, as sharp and as smooth as the Bolzano. However, in terms of durability, the Bolzano are unbeatable.

P.S. The Elios here in Italy seem to be highly respected blades. Many Italian Master Barbers use them in their Shavette razors.

I generally get 4-5 shaves out of a Feather.

Feathers are the sharpest I've found, but I haven't tried Kais, or Bolzanos. I'm really satisfied with them, and I find I can get quite a few great shaves. I think I used my last one 6 times, will go for a week with this new one. Amazingly it seemed as sharp and smooth on day 6 as day 2!

I've also found Feathers to be the sharpest but not necessarily the best (for me). The first use with a brand new blade, I would get a great shave with no nicks or weepers. From the second use on, I'd constantly nick myself here and there. I moved on to Israeli Red Personnas (somebody here recommended them) and have never looked back. They give me a very consistent shave.

I tried a Feather about two days ago (yeah, I'm kind of new). I was being really careful with it because I'd heard about how they were the sharpest. That being said, they seem sharper or at least more aggressive than the other ones in the sampler (Derby, Astra, Gillette, and Dorco).

I think Kais are as sharp or sharper than Feathers, and are smoother too. But I'm pretty sure they are also made in Japan, so that doesn't help much on the search for sharp EU blades.

Thank you Marco. I have them too now. The Italian dealer finally delivered. I asked because I read on the package they are distributed by Bolzano. So I was wondering if they might be the same / coming from the same plant?

Wil, you are certainly a keen observator. The Elios blades, exactly like the Bolzano, are distributed in Italy by "La Nuova Lama Bolzano Srl". Furthermore the Elios, again like the Bolzano, are currently made in Germany. These two great blades are very similar, but not the same. As just stated above, the Bolzano have no competition at all in terms of durability.

I've had great luck with Sharp brand blades. Not a product from the EU, but they are made on machines made in the UK. I get 4 shaves from them with no problems. I've used Feathers but found them to be unforgiving and tend to give nicks even with minimal/no pressure applied while shaving. I use the RMWS system, so I have a very good buffer in my skin while shaving.

I only use Feathers & Astras, but heard that BIC blades are very sharp.

Souplex blades are also made in Germany. I am in the process of testing the blade. So far 3 shaves and no issues. I prefer the Bolzanos but so far the Souplex blade is proving to be a worthy opponent to Bolzanos and the Timors.

I'm bumping this because I'm looking for the same thing.

I use Astra SP blades currently, which I think are fairly close in sharpness to Feathers. However, they are significantly more smooth to shave with. I just ordered some Bolzano blades. I'll see how that goes. But in the two years since this thread was made, is there anything sharper than the Feathers made in Europe?

I will say no..... but the closest I have found is the Czech-manufactured 7 O'Clock Blues. Damn sharp blades which were made in the old Astra factory. Have not compared with the Russian-made 7OC Blues, but the Czech's are amazingly good.

Not tried feathers, kais or bolzanos, but I can say perma sharps made in Russia are pretty sharp compared to derby extras, rapira ss, black wilkinsons and merkurs.

I think the Gillette Silver Blues are the only blade sharper than the Feathers

    Personna Meds come close, however.
