    Default Bad Batch Of Clubman

Has anybody had a problem lately in purchasing Clubman? I bought 2 bottles at Sally's Beauty that smelled funky. I bought a bottle at Walgreen's that was fine.I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Of course with my luck they are only 2 bad bottles in the world!

They might have been 'on the shelf' at Sally's for a very, very long time

Pinaud Clubman is a surprisingly big seller. You want to buy from a supplier that sells a lot of the stuff, which is why I normally buy my Pinaud products from Atlanta Barber Supply. If the juice stays in plastic for too long, and this is especially true for Pinaud products, the scent goes bad after a relatively short period of time.

I got this far in the post and thought to myself, "Funky, that is a fitting description for Clubman."

My barber picked up a big plastic bottle for me when she ordered supplies for the shop. It had the normal fragrance when I opened it, but it went "funky" a week later. I found that shaking the bottle restores the fragrance to almost normal. There is no problem with the scent breaking down on my skin using this method. It's inexpensive enough that I'm going to ditch this bottle and get a new one as soon as I get a glass bottle to decant into.

    Hey! This isn't funny.

The Clubman fans will have to rush over now, to defend our favorite aftershave.

If the product does not smell right, take it back.

Very true. It gets kind of skunky, and I did have one bottle do that to me. I never could get it back to normal, so I just tossed it, bought another bottle and found a glass bottle I could decant it into.

I have also found that leaving the cap off the glass bottle for about a day every other week helps keep some of the mild funk from showing up, while still retaining that powdery scent I have come to know so well.

I had a similar problem with a half-full large bottle (I think 32 ounces) that I bought from Appleton Barber Supply. It was fine when it was full, and I used it to refill my smaller (6 oz) bottle and then stuck the rest in the closet to use as a refill when the small bottle dried up. Months later, when this happened, I opened the large bottle to find that is smelled rather rank, almost like vinegar. I've stuck to just buying the small bottles since then. It would appear that shelf life is limited (though none of my other Pinaud scents in half empty small bottles seem to have a problem).

Hey now watch it. We true clubman lovers are highly upset with the recent disrespect to our go to aftershave. I notice mine smelling a little funky in the bottle but when i applied it the smell changed to what it was suppose to be. I even like the bay rum from clubman for all the clubman blasphemous...

Everybody blames the aftershave.. maybe the plastic bottle is defective.
