I have been smoking Frog Morton On The Town in a MM Cob all day. Didn't like this blend when I first tried it about a month ago, but boy I'm taking to it now. Tried it before in a briar. Don't know if it was a month of aging or switching to the cob that did it for me. Guess I will try it in a briar again soon, maybe tomorrow.

Captain Black (White) in a HUGE no name meer. This thing is taking forever to color.

It really is all James' fault.

(Okay, maybe Owen had something to do with it as well.

I was like that with Solani Silver Flake. The first time I wondered what the hell am I smoking. I started appreciating it after the 3rd smoke.

Looks like its coming along nicely to me. Great looking pipe. Have you ever re waxed it? It really brings out the color.

I have rewax it about once a year now, yes it does help. Keep in mind I have been smoking this thing for about 15 years now. When I say big, my thum fits snugly inside the bowl, and it is as deep as my middle finger. The walls are so thick I can see why it is taking so long to color, it is not a clencher for sure.

I like the look of this pipe, you know the secret to coloring meers is to wax them frequently, melt some beeswax in a double boiler (just hot enough to melt the wax, remove the stem and bend a pipe cleaner to form a dipping handle for the meer portion of the pipe stuff the bowl with a paper towel then submerge to pipe in the melted beeswax several times (3 or 4 times) then right after the last drip wipe as much of the excess wax off while still soft then let cool and buff to a nice shine the wax causes the color to come to the surface, after smoking a while the wax melts and it needs to be repeated, a well waxed pipe will color much faster, here's a shot of a vintage Kaywoodie I waxed, I wish I had a before shot but it looked a lot like your pipe before I dipped it...

Tonight I popped all my tins open (except a few - I need to buy more jars!) and transferred them to jars for safer cellaring. I left enough for a bowl or two in each tin, so it looks like I'll be doing a nice run of sampling for the next little while!

Ha, I recognize that BB! And that's a cool looking BC. It's sorta the opposite of a lot of freehands that are smooth on the sides & rough on the rim.

Yesterday I took the car to get some work done & walked across the street to a Starbucks. I passed the time reading & smoking some P.M. by Just for Him (I believe their take on Nightcap) in my Peterson Shannon 999. With all the negative press against smoking, it was very nice to have strangers compliment me on my pipe.

This afternoon I had some bulk Balkan Supreme ( I'm not sure, but I think this could be Peter Stokkebye). It seemed to smoke better this time around in my MM Country Gentleman. It didn't have the bite I had experience in some of my briars.
