I have the opportunity to bring Shavemac D01 brushes to WCS. Is there any interest? Size preference?

I think it would depend largely on price. I don't imagine much demand for a retail product when a custom is available unless the cost difference drives it.

D01 2-band in fan or extreme flat fan is on my future buying list...Something in the 20mm to 24mm range
20-22mm in real horn would be sweet.![]()
I would be interested in the extreme flatop d01 2 band like ambrose has :)

I think if there's an option for a customized retail line (like Simpsons did with the Ehsan) that a 2 band extreme flat D01 would be the obvious choice. It seems like the majority of Shavemac "Brush Bragging" threads I see are of that type. I'd be most interested in the 23-25mm range. But 20-22 wouldn't be a deal killer for me if the price was right. My point is that Shavemac is pretty easy about custom orders, and from what I've been told the wait isn't even that long... so it seems like there needs to be something to incentivize customers to get enough business to justify going to the trouble of stocking Shavemacs. And price seems the only way to do it. Well... Price or doing a "LE" run. As we've seen, slapping LE on a brush increases demand (just look at the anger Semogue faced when they increased a LE run from customers who had only bought the brush because it was limited). I don't understand that mentality, but it's obviously there.

I love the D01 hair, so I would be interested. It will come down to price, though. My size preference is a 22 or 23mm knot with a 45 to 47 mm loft. For what it's worth, I think the fan knot appeals to a wider audience than the flat top (although the replies in this thread may be proving me wrong -- seems like the flat top is more appealing to others in the thread than it is to me).

I'd be interested in an extreme flat top D01 brush. Like Jim, I think horn would be swell. A knot size of 23mm-25mm with a loft height of 48mm-50mm would be in my sweet spot.

Of course it's dark, it's a suicide note.
As long as its a soap lathering beast, I'm in.

Sure... I'm not sure something overly specialized would be that great of an addition - they can always go to Bernd for that.
I think maybe a 22mm and 24mm medium lofted D01 would be a nice addition.
Bespoke... that's british for "Hand over your money, Sir!"
I think these 2 brushes would sell well-

If you carried these 2 brushes with the 20-22-24mm knots it looks like it would cover the sizes most people like.
Flat top is appealing mostly because it's only available through shavemac. People looking for a fan top have Rooney and surely a few other quality makers. If you already have people looking at shavemacs, that skews the results in favor of flat tops just because all the people who would be interested in a Rooney etc fan have been filtered out.

22-48 in real horn sounds great.

Genuine horn will probably need to be worked out with Kimson as Shavemac does not offer any genuine horn handles, I asked Bernd. What you see on the site is leftovers from a group buy a while back:
http://www.shavemac.com/shop/Shaving...s/Horn-Brushes
It will be hard to offer something that flies off the shelf unless it is priced well as someone who is prepared to pay that kind of money will probably go with a custom order that allows you to truly customize your brush. Unless John is ready to make custom brushes and engrave the handles
FWIW, I prefer smaller brushes, 20-22mm knot with shorter lofts 42mm, but for the D01's I'd probably go higher at 45-46mm.
Have a great shave!
To be honest, I like the shave brushes Shavemac offers. However, the horn handle just isn't all that great...I was in on that group buy when those horn brushes came out. Personally, I think the horn handle is sorely over-rated. It cracks near the brush knot, it needs a waxing after every use or it gets a dull finish, and if you drop it (which I unfortunately did) it breaks easily.
Horn=no
Shavemac=yes, the brush is great, the horn just isn't up to the use factor.
-David, but everybody calls me Dave
I serendipitously got a horn shavemac, and I don't think it's a big deal. It convinced me to get a custom brush done in D01, but it's actually seen very little use. I guess I kinda like plastic handles. For you guys that haven't tried this knot (I'm talking about the three-band, btw), FWIW I think it works shorter than it is. For example, a 45mm loft feels more like 40mm due to its density and backbone.
