Post Your Pictures: Swedish Steel

I have one of those but it has a bit of a frown on it. Once I have put together my honing kit, I might practice on it.

Very interesting, I don't think I saw a non-sheffield Bengall before. Nice!

F.W Söderén (Soderén)

Another not that well known maker that did some cutlery, but
had a lot of different models of razors going.
Some very unusual to see amongst Swedish straights.

This one is a more typical Swede, 4/8 ¼ hollow.
Once again this one proves that you don't need a bigger razor
to get a really good shave.

Very nice Jens!

I've been meaning to post the MK 31 and Eric Anton Berg I've recently acquired, but am too lazy to take pictures. Both scaled in ivory to boot.

Love me some swedish steel! :thumbup1:

MK 31 in Ivory. Not sure what the blade face says (i.e. too lazy to look it up in google translate).

15/16 Erik Anton Berg in abalone that I restored awhile back

Hi guys, I dont know if anyone from Sweden offered but if anyone is interested in a particular Swedish razor then let me know and I will do my best to find it for you.

And you guys have some beautiful SE razors !

Nice ones Joe!

I'm really impressed by the size of the Berg :w00t:

As for the MK#31 it says "Melens Järnaffär" Stockholm, which translates to "Melen's hardware store" i.e a guy who's last name was Melén ran a hardware store in Stockholm.
I looked it up on the Royal Libraries site (www.kb.se) (they've kept all printed things ever to come out in Sweden since the late 1800's) & much of it is digitalized.
Melen had 2 ads scanned, from 1911 & 1914.
His store was located at Vasagatan 9.
That's the very heart of Stockholm city.
Back in those days it was a really rough neighborhood.

No hardware store there today though.
Today it's a part of the banking/financial district during the days & during the night it the place to go if you want some company & are prepared to pay cash for it..

Thanks for the info Jens.

To be honest......I kind of figured you'd be along with some information on that one

So essentially I have an MK 31 that toughed the neighborhood during the days and well....at night be prepared to pay for it's services

And for the record, I only go there by day :biggrin1:
