I have finally joined the club

Acquired in a trade with a fellow member. Soft tips and amazing backbone. This will be the first of many I'm afraid.

Congrats, Dave. It's a wonderful brush... and definitely not your last. Enjoy your shave!

Had my first shave with it tonight (just couldn't wait). Loaded Cella for about :20 and face lathered it and had enough lather for 3 passes and touches up and rinsed out probably 2 more passes worth. I can totally see now why you all have so many of them. I can totally see now why there's a 99 page thread for these brushes. As soon as I am financially able, I WILL have a second one, and a third one. The most amazing badger brush I've ever used.

let me update my impressions from earlier. I have now used my brush 4 times. I know it is by no means broken in but, I changed my mind. I said earlier that this brush has the same face feel as my D01 2-band. I retract that statement. It is very similar and I have now come to the conclusion that the blonde badger is softer than the shavemac. It does not have as much scritch. Shavemac does have the edge on density and backbone. The blonde badger is a bit less dense and releases lather better. I enjoy both brushes and the shavemac is a great brush in its own right but, I find myself enjoying the M&F more. It has the total package for me. good density but not overly dense. More than adequate backbone. It walks the fine line of not enough/too much scritch right down the middle. VERY comfortable to use. A quick word on the handle. I find the Lee7 handle style to be superb. It is a very ergonomic style and lends itself well for both bowl and face lathering. I highly reccomend it. Now to save up for my next M&F...........

Well, had a chance to give this a try now and compare it to last year's Blonde as well as a few others.

Here is a shot of the new Lee7 post bloom, and another one next to my other blonde badger with the previous batch of blonde hair (circa February 2011).

The hair in the new brush has even whiter tips than the old blonde hair. The knot in the new brush is 25/50, while the other brush is about 24/51. Unlike those of some others, mynew brush has not had any issues with shedding. So far it has lost a total of 3 hairs with a couple tests lathers and two-pass shave. While the tips may break in and soften up a bit, even compared to the old blonde hair when brand-new, the new hair is substantially more scrubby than the old blonde and has a bit more backbone. The density of the knot is similar, but seems at least slightly less dense than the knot of the older brush. Below is a side to side comparison, with the new brush on the left.

Some folks have compared the new hair to Shavemac D01 2-band and Rooney Finest. I have both, and find the experience and face feel to be dissimilar to my D01 and the Rooney 1/1 Finest. The D01 and 1/1 Finest are much denser and have much scritchier tips that feel to me somewhat like a very fine grained sandpaper. The new blonde hair, by contrast, feels to me like it has a combination of hair with quite soft tips while also having interspersed within that hair a sparser collection of more prickly hairs. Rather than a very fine grain sandpaper, more like a soft cloth with some scratchy glitter sprinkled on it. While not identical, the closest comparison in face feel I can make is with my Rooney 2/1 Finest, which is longer lofted and less dense than the 1/1 Finest. Below are a couple of comparative shots of the new Lee7 to my Rooney 2/1 Finest (Lee7 is on the left in the density shot).

Anyway, the new hair definitely has something to offer, especially for those who like a scrubbier brush.

I just placed an order with lee for a barrel shaped handle in ivory with a 26x50mm knot of blonde badger 2 band. I can't wait! It's my first knot over 23mm and first knot of 2 band badger.

NICE...this will be my 1st 2 band as well. and from what i've been reading and hearing by PM, it's one of the best knots out there and something special to use.

can't wait to see a pic when you get it.
