Glad to hear good things about the P90X. My wife has been trying different workouts and she just started doing the P90X with some coworkers and likes it so far. I am happy she is sticking to this and look forward to her being able to give me a run for my money playing tennis if this blasted snow will ever stop.

I love beer too. I just don't drink it very often anymore. That was a college thing and once you realize that your workout goals and being healthy are more important than beer, you won't want to drink as often anymore either.

That said, if you have to drink a beer, stay away from the heavy stuff except for once in a blue moon (my favorite ). Drink Michelob Ultra...there is a reason why most of the ads feature athletes who are in great shape.
Ahead lie many fantastic shaves & AD's...But by appreciating #1, you justify #2!

I do love me a quality beer. I will drink no beer before I drink ultra, blagh!

I understand where your advice comes from, but I hope to offer another perspective/opinion. People, and marketers, often think and tell us that calories are the only issue. I do agree that losing weight is as simple as "burn more calories than you take in". But I am more concerned with overall health than my exact BMI.

Many may disagree with this idea, but light or "ultra" light beers pose the same problem as fat and sugar substitutes. Or a better parallel is milk. Milk contains different types of fat. When they make skim milk they only remove the denser fats. Of course the result is a lower calorie substance, but some of the fats are left behind. Your body can't process saturated fats as easily as the heavier fats and thus we can retain more of them.

With light beer they have to water down normal beer then force more fermentation in order to make it anywhere near the right alcohol content. There are also nutrients and some health benefits to be had from a dark beer. Most of these are completely removed from light beer. All your left with is the stuff you don't need.

If calories become a problem I'll just stick to one dark beer instead of a few lighter ones.

Maybe it's a motivational tactic. I know I work out harder when mad.

Sometimes I'll hit the weight bench to blow off steam so I don't hit anyone.

That's amazing, SeattleSparky. I am in my rest week between phase one and two. Sadly, life has gotten in the way this week and I haven't been able to work out like I should but I don't feel too guilty since it's the rest week. I wholeheartedly trust Beachbody for anything. I don't buy the supplements but if you follow the diet plan and workout regimen there's no way it won't work.

I have been doing P90X for about 2 years, I started year 3 in January 2012. I have completed 6 rounds and starting on #7. My starting weight was 220 lbs on a 6' 3" frame, my current weight is 175 lbs. I still have trouble with some of the moving postures in Yoga-X, this 50+ year old body is just not that flexible any more. I have never liked Kempo-X, it just doesn't get my heart rate up. But, I am in the best shape I have ever been. I am not a body builder, I just want to hang around and torment SWMBO as long as possible. I highly recommend P90X.
