    Default "Shaveblog" is no more

Does anyone here remember "Shaveblog"? It was that blog started by the guy who appeared on the Today Show and promoted classic shaving products and techniques. I think this blog is finally gone for good. It was fun to read at times, and offered good information, although the author sometimes had an arrogant, even nasty style of writing. But it was still fun. When I search for it now nothing comes up.

He probably got bored and move on. He had contempt for shaving forums.

    You're talking about Corey Greenberg.

I liked to watch his video and read his blog.

A current Google search revealed the following warning about his blog-site:
Web Search › Help articles › Search issues › Suspicious results and strange behavior › Results labeled 'This site may harm your computer'
Suspicious results and strange behavior: Results labeled 'This site may harm your computer'

You're probably right that he got bored, but then again, he was boring to begin with. While I got a kick out of seeing him on Today and reading his blog, I don't think he had much of a following from the wet-shaving community.

Remember, this guy is a TV-journalist, first and foremost. I think he did this more as a career enhancing move than anything else ... he needed clips and text to add to his portfolio and enhance his resume.

Its been at least a year since I've seen anything new from him. While he had a slick presentation and good info, there was never anything new.

I just replayed the video while I was typing this ... pay very close attention to the last 10seconds, starting around 4:55, ... and the mail address given at the end of the spot is "Wastebasket NBC". No "@" or "dot" or "com" and the speech is given by a Bullwinkle puppet.

    Draw your own conclusions.

I can only hope that his next project doesn't involve anything I like.

    Default not enough credit

I don't get it. Why no love for a guy who was a very funny, honest writer, and the guy who literally changed my (and I'm certain lots of your) shaving habits for the better and exposed the way the multi-blade monstrosities are all "invented" by the marketing department? I found a tube of Musgo Real, and it was so good, I had to look it up on the internet. I first found shaveblog.com, and from there, the deluge.

OR..... are some of you guys pissed that he let so many other men in on your little secret world, as I suspect?

I thought his blog was quite humorous. Sorry to see that the content has apparently disappeared.

Nope, we are enablers here. The more the merrier. A larger customer base means more companies will produce more products. Nothing would please me more than for there to be a mass exodus from the cart and canned goo world to real wetshaving.
I discovered him after I was here at B&B, so he didn't lead me here.
He gets little love because he's a pompous twit.
He contantly badmouthed people on shaving forums, and made fun of the questions the newbies would ask.
He may indeed have led some people to wetshaving, but that isn't all there is. You have to try to help people with technique, product selection etc.
Sure, they could do it on their own by trial and error, but that is wasted effort. To "attract an audience" to wetshaving, and then criticize the very means by which they learn to do it is pretty ignorant in my opinion.
I'm not sorry to see him go.

His blog was something I came across when I was first starting out. I think that some companies were paying him money to promote different products. That was the feeling I got when I read his blog. It didn't help that he admitted to receiving money from Coke or Pepsi to promote a product though.

I think companies saw what type of 'traffic' he was getting and would send him different products to brag and exaggerate about.

I got a feeling from reading his posts that he was kind of a jerk. Reading through this thread, I wasn't wrong.

A little history on this character. He joined the old MSN forums to do research for his news segment. At that time, members of the forum included Dr. Moss, Gordon, Vince, Joel, etc. Needless to say he gleaned quite a bit of info from these pioneering members and nary a credit for their contribution. Was he a jerk? Yes he sure was.

I saw his Today show appearance clip shortly after I started wet shaving and thank God I didn't see it before. That weak, thin, dry lather he made by my estimation set the "wet shaving movement" back at least 10 years.... He blamed the TV set lighting, but any of us would have known to compensate for the heat. So in essence, Cory did more damage than good.

Site's still up for me... it's marked as a badware site, but you can just continue on to the site. He does write like he is the king of the world... but then it is a blog.

No loss in my view. His site is infected with Malware so just don't go to it.

"yes, it's a wordpress bug I'm trying to hunt down. It's not malware. Google has done this to a ton of WP sites."
    -Greenberg via twitter 11.11.2010

It sounds like he is still into the website but has trouble maintaining it or Google does not like how he has set it up with potential holes for malware.

This the guy that appeared on one show and threw a bunch of Gillette style stuff in the bin?

I remember he was using Trumpers Violet on the demo.
