That fellow that sells Penhaligon's on ebay...

Does anyone know what the deal is on the Penhaligon's bottles that retail for around 60 or 70 bucks on ebay? Anyone have any experience buying from the guy (don't think I'm allowed to post a name, unfortunately...)?

I sort of believe it could be legit, given that I've heard tell of a Pen's outlet somewhere that sells old stock with fewer bells and whistles in the packaging (I'll probably be fine if my cologne doesn't wear a bow tie, thanks). On the other hand, this seems sort of... scammish.

Thoughts?

I've bought low-cost Pen's from two different vendors in the UK - two transactions with one, one from the other - all went well.

Hm, have you compared them to known-legitimate Pen's scents? My worry is just that they'll end up being knockoffs...

I have purchased two bottles from him. Both were legit juice and the transactions went very well. I contacted him directly rather than going through his eBay site...

I ordered some Endymion from them and it was genuine. I compared it to a sample that I got directly from Pens.

They should be from the outlet store in Bicester http://www.bicestervillage.com cheap if you buy in twos or so.

They won't have the nice bow on the lid but that just tells you there from the outlet store.

I have bought several times from a chap, I think "Benji", I believe he is a member here and also on SMF. He gets the juice in the outlet stores. Good deals every time!

If that's the guy on eBay, then he is legit. (He is a member here, but I don't think he's been active for several months, presumably because he didn't want to pay to become a supporting vendor.)

I'm not sure if he can even post EdT to Canada, but I thought I'd look.

I bought some from a fellow on the BST forum a couple of years ago. It was weak and watered down. Nothing like I expected. IMHO, in cases like this, your are better off spending the money and getting the real thing from Pen.

So far as I can tell by the reviews, this seller is offering the real thing. He has tons of positive feedback and only good reviews in this thread. If it were otherwise, I would not order from him. For everything I've read, it seems these are legit bottles at highly discounted prices.

I believe the seller is purchasing the juice directly from the Pen's outlet outside of London. That is why the bottles come without boxes and usually have no bow on the lid. The juice itself, though, seems to be legit based on the two bottles I purchased from him back when my FAD was a mere glimmer in my eye!

~~~I bought a bottle of Blenheim Bouquet from Brasschuck/ebay sometime ago...last fall? He's an Englishman, totally legit. I was just looking at some of his Pen's bottles as I saved him in my ebay favorite vendors so I get an email occasionally from him. Most Penholigan 100ml EdT bottles through him are selling for $62 and another $12 to ship to the states (approx.) Shipping time was lengthy but I would order through him again. Hope this helps!

..... beautiful packaging, beautiful bottles, great gifts...... but unfortunately..... they are just colored water....

.....but of course, you won't find out until your loved one opens up the bottle, after you are 2,000 miles away at home...

.....although i was tempted, i never bought them; i have friends who have and have been taken........

I've bought Sartorial from one of the regular eBay UK sellers, and it's definitely the right stuff - it's identical to the sample I got direct from Penhaligon's. (It wasn't as cheap as the usual eBay stock, but it was less than the RRP - same seller has EF, BB etc at the usual low prices).

Penhaligon's appear to over-produce, and sell excess through outlets, and the handful of eBay UK sellers are widely considered to be legit. As others have said, you usually don't get a box or a ribbon, but you do get the genuine stuff.

Leonidas: Is this with reference to the seller that we are all referring to? Everything else that I have read (primarily through this thread and through the seller's feedback) has been positive.

I'd be curious to know if you are indeed referring to the same seller or if you are making a sort of general statement about scammers who sell fake juice.

Please expand on your post if you don't mind.
