After reading that Col Conk offered free samples of their short line of aftershaves, I quickly jumped on the FREE SAMPLE WAGON. I wasn't expecting anything incredible. The lime was weak and medicinal, the almond pleasant but weak, but the bay rum was surprisingly good. It downplayed the sweet note of BR, which is why I usually can't stand that scent. The real surprise, though, was the amber.
It's not a strong scent by any means, but it's a wonderful old-fashioned one which manages to not remind me immediately of very old men. My wife calls it "warm and comforting". It's warm without being musky or leathery. If I want something that will linger all day, I will skip this one, but as a daily aftershave this might have just risen to the top of my list!
It also has a substantial burn, and although it doesn't quite soothe like Speick, or moisturize like Musgo Real, my skin does feel great afterward. I wish I had tried this one earlier, but I never hear much about Col Conk's aftershaves. That should change!
