Angry What to do about DE blades when flying?

I am flying to Chicago for a CPR conference and I found that, unless I want to spend another $25 to check my bag (and my shaving kit) I can't bring a DE blade on the plane! Cartridge razors are accepted, however. Disposables are OK, too!

If you're traveling to Chicago for a CPR Conference, that is business related, and you can either claim it on an expense report or write it off as business related expenses on your taxes.
You could mail some ahead to your hotel and ask them to hold them for your arrival, or you could drop by Mertz Apothecary in Chicago and buy some quality blades or drop by any Walmart and use some of the Wilkinsons they have there.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Otherwise there is always Bic disposables, which can be carried on.

How long are you going to be in Chicago? Where are you staying? Most Walgreens in Chicago stocks DE blades although they are pricey at $7 for ten (cheaper than $25 though). Also, the T&H at 900 N. Michigan and Merz (stated before) has DE blades in stock.

This is probably when I take my cartridge razor and gut it out while I am there. I like my Mach 3 razor, but prefer to use my DE. It's nice to switch back and forth, especially if you're in a rush! The Mach 3 is a savior in that instance.

    Bags are free on Southwest.

Less that, I think I'd bite the bullet and pay to check.

When are you coming? Where are you staying? How long? What blades do you use?

I go to school in the Loop and could meet up with you and hook you up with some blades. Let me know.

Last time I flew, I put my Futur in my carry-on with no blades and put the blades in my checked baggage. The TSA guy fiddled with my Futur for about 2-3 minutes trying to figure out how to open it. Every time I tried to help, he stopped me... I guess he thought I was going to attack him with it

He finallly gave up on twisting the handle and I showed him how to pop the top piece off the razor.

If I was not checking bags, I would just pick up some blades at a drug store upon my arrival.

That's why I want to get one of those travel 3 piece gillettes. It'll already be disassembled for them in it's case.

To answer OP I have not had any trouble mailing myself blades to the hotel I will be staying at.
