    Default Finally Joining B&B

So after many years with cartridge razors, I had decided it was time to learn the art of straight razor shaving. While on a trip with my wife, she took me into 'The Art of Shaving' store, treated me to my first straight razor shave. While I was enjoying my shave, my lovely wife purchased a TI straight razor, silver tip brush, strop, cream, oil, and aftershave!

She will never know what she started!

So, I have been shaving almost daily since August of this year with the straight razor. A little rough at the start, but after my face became used to the razor, after a month or so, the little nicks stopped and it keeps getting better and better. Daily, in the morning, I shave WTG then ATG. That alone gets me BBS, but I will miss a few spots. If I shave in the evening and do a WTG, ATG twice, I usually get it all. (I save that for date night).

My daily razor is now getting VERY dull. It is time for a serious honing. I have asked my wife for some hones, but I think I will practice on some ebay stuff before I 'mess' up my daily shaver. I recently purchased a Dovo, but it didn't come shave ready...so it needs to be honed also...either I get some hones now, or send out the razors for a professional job....Actually I think I should buy another razor and make sure it is really shave ready! Yup, I think that will work

Anyway, I have enjoyed surfing B&B. I have learned a TON from you guys! Thank You for sharing your knowledge!

Welcome to the B&B! Sounds like you have a delightful wife. Congrats on a solid start, and I would definately recommend buying a shave ready straight, and sending your current one in for a professional honing. (Or just sending your current one in for a honing) I wouldn't hone it till you've practiced on a few junkers.

Great to have you with us!

    1. Great wife
    2. Great start

Good idea practicing honing on a cheaper razor. That's a skill you won't master overnight, if ever. Have fun!

    Welcome to B&B!!

Send the straights out to be honed and buy a touchup stone first. Then you can keep your current straights shave ready while you do your research and pick out your hone collection and get a few straights to practice with.

Man you are lucky. Rub my head or something, maybe I can find a woman who will take me for a shave then blow a couple paychecks behind my back on my shaving hobbie.

Does she have any sisters? I'm 37 and can be polite if I have to be.
