Cooper Razor?

I came across this Cooper Razor (made in USA) in a batch of razors that I bought.

It has a really novel loading system with a collet in the neck of the handle that pulls on a peg on the underside of the hinged head when the base of the handle is turned.

I haven't shaved with it yet, but it looks like a very nice razor.

Anyone have experience of these, or know where and when they were made?

I have one and have used it. For me, it felt very mild. Maybe a step above a Tech, perhaps due to the open comb design. The handle feels great in hand and the balance is nice. I need to try it again now that I think about it.

Picked up one myself a few months ago. Have yet to use it. Took me a while to figure out how to open it. Interesting piece.

Just did quick eBay search and no Cooper razor, although there was a pack of Cooper blades. Nice find! Makes me wonder how many other small razor manufacturers there were back in the day.

yes, Yours is the Cooper Mono Swing top made in 1932. Cooper safety razors corp Brooklyn NY and Cooper products Co. Brooklyn were the 2 companies that made these, they also made 3 piece open comb sets. they also made their own razor blades to go with them.

I've now tried the Cooper a couple of times and it gives a really good shave - I think it'll be added to my rotation.

i got one of these for christmas. didnt know they existed. pretty hefty, but weird design.
